It was interesting to learn how D.P Fullerton approaches certain behavioral traits, such as avoidant withdrawal behaviors and the like. In chapter 5, they discuss how physiological upkeep is key and basically a biological necessity when it comes to any personality issues that wear and tear our nervous systems. This was so helpful because we think of all of the psychological aspects of attachment disorders without realizing the very physical aspect of how they stimulate hormonal changes (stress hormones anyone?) and affect our nervous systems and stress responses. Thank you to the author for this pragmatic, advanced, and in-depth, helpful guide to help those of us who perhaps may have some trauma to clear in order to develop healthy attachment.

This book speaks with authority. I really felt as if I was listening to an expert. The analysis of this condition is exhaustive, and the escape plan from it is detailed. At the end, there are case studies. I particularly enjoyed hearing about real people and learning their key turning points. I really could use more of these because I understand best when stories are shared. The exercises sprinkled throughout every chapter are the action plans, where the practical work is found. There are a lot of them. As the author says at the get-go, "This isn't a book you just read. It is a book you do." This holds true.
