Summary

A warrior with a secret. A band of cutthroats. And a monster of legend.

It is a time of war. After years of relentless and pitiless battles, the tired country of Sunja realizes its spine is close to breaking. Desperate for aid, the king dispatches a company of soldiers to the north in a desperate plea for help from its neighbors.

A Sunjan cavalier called Bloor has the unenviable task of protecting a mysterious and heavily armored koch destined for the northern kingdom. Under his command is a mixed force of heavy infantry, horsemen, and the king’s own hand-picked guard, all entrusted with escorting the koch and ensuring its safety. Not only does Bloor have to be ever watchful of their enemy’s movements, he must maintain order among the men under his command - and temper their obvious dislike for each other.

And Bloor must contend with a rival cavalier, a man bitter and resentful over not being chosen to command the mission.

Despite the tension throughout the ranks, orders are orders.

Take the koch to the north. Protect it at all costs.

The doomed and divided company will soon discover it’s not the war-torn northern wilderness they will have to be on guard against, or the legions of hated Nordish soldiers who seek to capture the koch and its true contents.

A much more sinister threat awaits Bloor and his soldiers, just out of sight of Sunja’s high walls, one that will rip Bloor and his command apart.

A story of heroic fantasy. Some graphic violence and language.

One of this Author's best

This Author is excellent. This is a stand alone story set in the country of Sunja which the Author has used for many of his books. The author is excellent at describing battle scenes and likes to kill off characters at a regular basis so you never know who will survive in his books. All the characters are excellent and 3 dimesional theres a love story in here but it does not get in the way of the action. I have found with many fantasy author's the first book starts off brilliantly and then I am bored by the 2nd or 3rd as they allnstart to fit a common pattern. However with keith c blackmore you never really no which diirection the story is going. Also his charcaters are not usually a bunch of super powered prople trying to sace thw world which seems to be the standard in fantasy nowdays. I really think this author is original.in his writing style. Excellent narrator who has a good range of voices I actually prefer him to R.C Bray who is also good and did this author's mountain man series.

Damn you Keith!

A great story. with so many twists and turns you'd think you're riding a corkscrew!
There's a lot of POVs in this book and character you'd immediately dislike, end up being some of your favorite...though I loved Alduin right from the start and his drunk scene just made me like him even more XD

a twist that for once i didnt predict

firstly narrators are important they can kill or make a book, this chap has gone on my golden list and i will be seeking more narratives from him.
i loved the malcontents books by blackmore.
i this again ticked all my fantasy reading/listening boxes.
i was a bit worried it was going to be a testosterone, gut spilling decapitation, with some amusing insults fest, but i had already become involved with a few of the characters.
then suddenly the story backtracked and the story flowed.
over to soon,i dont normally do stant alones, but glad i did for troll hunter.
thankyou again my blackmore

Give it a go!!

Fantastic story with lots of twists, character development and great narration. Slow start but it builds. Not sure what genre it is but I’d call it historical sci fi.

As the title says I liked the book, but the narrator felt like he was struggling with reading it stumbling on words

Great read

I just plain enjoy Blackmore’s books. The story is great, the narrator does a wonderful job of drawing you in & I look forward to his next creation. You know a book has drawn you in when you think about it after you have stopped listening or reading it.

My opinion:Blackmore,is the best in the business!

“The Troll Hunter” solidified my growing hunch, that Keith Blackmore is the most talented and entertaining author in the business! I have all the “big names”,1100 fantasy titles in my library-Keith is the only author, I can state: has never disappointed. Granted,”The Song of Ice and Fire” is just not fair to compare to anyone, but GRRM’s other stuff ,has never appealed to me. Especially, his forays into different genres. Judging by the reviews of other customers-I am not alone...
Keith Blackmore has never disappointed( at any subject he chooses to tackle)! The dude is a bottomless well of talent!
Write on ,Mr.Blackmore! I will be ready to grab up whatever you got for us...
Spread the word about Blackmore,so you can claim:”you knew him when”...

Equine Slaughter Romance

This is a sad addition to the wonderful 131 days series. It should have stayed unwritten. The book is a strange mix of predictable romantic hero and heroin interplay mixed with an obsession with gruesome equine slaughtering. Bad mix to say the least.

More of a romance than anything else.

It's a good book, superb performance from John Lee, but this is more romance than anything else, the troll is barely in the book at all making it seem like it was thrown in there just to be able to add that fantasy tag.
To me it was very misleading as I expected something very different to what I got.

It was also difficult to figure out who the main character were supposed to be until about 3 hours in.
