Summary

The heir to Martina Cole’s crown with a story of murder, the underworld, violence and treachery. The Butlers are the kings of the East End. Vinny and Roy Butler are the apple of their mum’s eye. Queenie knows they can play dirty, but when it comes to family they look after business and make her proud. Nothing and no one can bring them down. Brotherly love. But Vinny seems to have crossed the wrong person and his cards are marked. And with the brothers joined at the hip, Roy may just be in the firing line too…Deadly rivals. One bloody night sets Vinny on the path of desperate vengeance, but will the Butlers emerge stronger than ever, or is the East End code of honour as good as dead?

Edge of my seat

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is the 1st book in a trilogy, I have listened to them all in order-Superb narration by Annie Aldington and a fast paced story set in the 80's in the East of London about a likeable gangster family. Gritty reading, excellent story. I am now hooked on Kimberly Chambers and have begun her second trilogy.

ANOTHER GREAT BOOK

Great for Martina Cole fans. The first in this series and I cannot wait to go to the second one. There are a lot of characters in the book but once you get to know them you are in for a fantastic ride trust me you will want to get to the end. I have never wanted so much for justice to be meted out.. Again another terrific read from Annie Aldington. Thank you Annie

Addictive

Loved this book from the first minute & couldn't stop listening.
Never heard of the author before but being a Martina Cole fan it was recommended. Although a very similar style with very similar characters would say the humour in this book actually surpassed my expectations. There are certainly I gritty & gruesome bits bit I am definitely a fan of Kimberly Chambers & look forward to reading her next book. Highly recommend!

Hard hitting and addictive

This is the first book in the Butler series, I read this first then payback after.

The East end is virtually run by the Butler family who see themselves as gangsters the eldest Vinny is the worst of them all. He will stop at nothing to get what he wants especially when he is hell bent on taking revenge. He has a soft spot and that's his Mum Queenie, he dotes on her. I found most of the characters despicable but it didn't put me off reading it. The way this book ended you just know the story has not ended, I am about to read "Payback" I hope Vinny of all people gets his comeuppance. There is a mixture of violence and some comical moments too. There is so much going on but I don't want to give anything away.

The ending fell flat

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was mostly enjoyable, some parts were too predictable.

Would you recommend The Trap to your friends? Why or why not?

No, Not good enough for someone to spend the money on.

Do you think The Trap needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. I think the chance was lost with the ending coming up so short. It seemed like something was building and then poof, done.
