Legend speaks of the Maker of Tears: a man with eyes like glass, who crafts all the fears that dwell in people's hearts . . . What will it take for star-crossed orphans Nica and Rigel to face him and his creations?

----

Growing up within the walls of Grave's Orphanage, Nica's imagination burned with fantastical stories. Including that of The Tearsmith, a mysterious craftsman, guilty of having forged all the fears and anxieties in the world.
When at seventeen, she's adopted by Mr and Mrs Mulligan, Nica thinks she's leaving her world of dark fairy tales behind her.

But the Mulligans also adopt Rigel, an orphan who is as mesmerising and handsome as he is troubled. They share a past filled with grief and isolation, and the ever-gentle Nica starts to fall for her forbidden love.

However it isn’t long until the fears and the darkness of her childhood threaten to unravel her future.
Can Nica find the courage to embrace the future?
Forget her past?
And fall for her secret love?

I really liked the characters so much depth. And the narrator was soo good really agree with the previous comments she brings the book alive.

Really good story!

Having watched the movie I decided to buy the audio book and get more of the story, it kept me listening but at times I found it toxic and disturbing.
It could have been a lot shorter had the author stopped mentioning Rigel's dark eyes, his raven black hair, being a wolf, the words 'fragile', 'broken' and Nica's 'band aids'!! We get it!
Nica was described as innocent and naïve but quite often she's downright stupid and I found myself shouting at the book 'ffs Nica'. 😂
There's such a lack of communication too, so many issues could have been sorted out it everyone had just talked properly especially about them being in love and the adoption. Lots of mountains made out of molehills!
On the plus side the narration was excellent, though a bit slow so I recommend listening to it on a higher speed.

Hmm ok ish and a bit repetitive!

I litened to this after watching the recent netflix movie that I enjoyed but didn't really make sense in lots of places. It missed out too much of the story. "The Tearsmith" is a great story, the reader is wonderful and the book has an ending done exactly the way I love!

AMAZING!

The story is a unique story to be honest. It's intricate s and situation turns are really nice. It is really well described when it comes to childhood trauma, the voices in Nica's mind are really on point and the difficulty of Nica and Rigel of getting closer shows that our experiences drive us, the paths that we already formed in our brains dictate of how we are behaving and it is a hard process to overcome those.

childhood trauma really well described
