Summary

A sweeping story of love that stretches across the years from the number-one best-selling author of Songs of Love and War.

The war has ended, and Rita Fairweather is waiting for George Bolton, her childhood sweetheart, to return home to Devon. She wants their future to be a continuing reassurance of their past. But George comes back as a man changed by the horrors he has experienced.

Unable to settle back into a small-town life, George decides to travel to Argentina. And Rita promises to wait. But George faces irresistible temptation and an agonising choice. As the years pass, Rita keeps her word, but how long should she wait for the love of the life?

Disappointed

I've read many Santa Montefiore books and enjoyed them. This was only my second audible book. I had to abandon it as the narrator was really awful. It was when she attempted an American accent that made me give up with the book. I also thought I knew where the plot was going too, having read many others. This one was not for me

It was....

a nice enough story can't say it with the best story I've listened to but it was ok. The narrator was very good at using different voices for the characters.

A great story by Santa Montefiore

This is another book by Santa Montefiore, these books take a little time to attach the imagination but it's well worth taking the time with it.

The Swallow and the Hummingbird

Another wonderful book written by Santa Montiferori. Expertly narrated by Juanita McMahon telling the story of two families. I really like her style of writing and was sad when it finished.

Not for me

I found some of the characters a bit over the top and the story of Rita to far fetched. I listen to relax and although the reader was excellent at the various voices I did find the fluctuations in volume irritating. However I did like the way places, people and actions were described with a few well choose words Just didn't really enjoy it.

I really enjoyed this story though it took me a long time to finish it due to personal reasons. I would highly recommend it.

Ok but didn’t engage me

One of my less enjoyed books by this author. I’ve enjoyed and engaged with others much more. Didn’t really grow to like any of the characters and felt it was light compared to others.
