Summary

Fiercely independent Daisy Chance has a dream - and it doesn't involve marriage or babies (or being under any man's thumb). Raised in poverty, she has a passion - and a talent - for making beautiful clothes. Daisy aims to become the finest dressmaker in London.

Dashing Irishman Patrick Flynn is wealthy and ambitious and has entered society to find an aristocratic bride. Instead he finds himself growing increasingly attracted to the headstrong, clever, and outspoken Daisy. She's wrong in every way - except the way she sets his heart racing.

However, when Flynn proposes marriage, Daisy refuses. She won't give up her hard-won independence. Besides, she doesn't want to join the fine ladies of society - she wants to dress them. She might, however, consider becoming Flynn's secret mistress....

But Flynn wants a wife, not a mistress, and when Flynn sets his heart on something, nothing can stand in his way.

Skip book three and proceed to this one!

What did you like most about The Summer Bride?

How everything was so nicely wrapped up.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The butler, he was just wonderful through the whole series.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

This series should be rerecorded with a better narrator. She just does mispronounce too often and can not do male voices even if her life depended on it.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Never have any great answer to this question.

Any additional comments?

PIty about the narrator, but I enjoyed the series but would have wished to have skipped book three.

Not your regular Regency romance

Daisy is a fun, stubborn, lovable character. Flynn is everyone's dream man in secret. Lady Beatrice is the wise aunt we all wish we had.

Lovely

I enjoyed this 4th novel in the series. Daisy wasn’t my favorite character but it was still a well written novel with great narration. I’m hoping eventually to have a 5th novel involving Ashton, the 4th business partner.

Could do with a good edit

It seemed to go on and on with Daisy dissecting the same arguments ad nausea until I thought Flynn would be better off to just move on. Also, reading about how horrid the toffs were to servants and those not in their social class, the street thugs, the selling of children and parents dropping them off at child brothels, Earls e. g. frittering away fortunes and selling their daughters is making me unhappy with England and especially the horror of living in a monarchist government and society. From the sea captains to the creepy priest who stole money from a poor child and spent it on booze and didn’t tell him his whole family was dead, to the hard hearts of nearly everyone in this series I found the books long and drawn out with little joy. Then after all they have had to endure and overcome they suddenly jump into page after page of sexual content. Making the characters behavior confusing for an otherwise PG book. The author should note that a little goes a long way and becomes ridiculous after a while. I couldn’t wait for this book to be over. I liked that the books had good plots and likable main characters with good scene set ups and the narrator was very good.

Sweet, heartwarming

This is the fourth book of the series. I would highly recommend reading at least the first book in the series before you read this one. However I think this is my favorite. I did not expect it to be, since Daisy seemed to be a lesser character. But her story seemed the most real out of all of the sisters. Also, Flinn seemed more emotionally developed than the other men in the stories. Finally, the series comes to the end with this book so you get the satisfaction of knowing how it ends for all the sisters, Mrs. B and their loyal staff!
