Their chance comes unexpectedly when a Goblin fleet in pursuit of a fugitive attacks the city.
The fugitive in question? A young woman named Mara Edgal, whom the Goblins claim stole a priceless artifact from the Goblin Palace itself. Mara begs for help, and soon Howard and Oliver, along with a disgraced warrior named James, find themselves on a journey across Theldin to the only place where Mara has a chance of destroying the artifact.
