Summary

A human sorceress. A dark fae mage. A deadly war that will seal their fates forever.

Kelia is one of the Magi Council's top sorceress, and they've sent her to the underground City of Stars to retrieve a prodigal child from the dark fae. The child is the key to the spell that will close the Rift in the Never for good.

To make it to the city, Kelia will need the aid of a dangerous mercenary named Callum, whose last 20 years were spent in a magi prison. The Queen demanded his release in exchange for the child, and not even the magi understand why. He's shifty, untrustworthy, disgustingly handsome, and Kelia will need more than her arcane tricks to keep Callum focused on the journey ahead.

When they reach the underground city and straight into war, their darkest fears become real. If they want to survive, they'll need to learn to trust in each other, and combine their hearts and spells to stop the deadly siege.

If not, they’ll never see the surface again.

The Starlit City is a standalone fantasy romance within the shifting fae world, perfect for listeners looking for sweeping, epic fantasy, a slow-burn romance, fast-paced action, and a happily ever after.

Fae

Kelia is a sorceress, Callum is a dark fae who spent the last 20 years imprisoned by the Magi. The Rift is putting the worlds in peril, and Kelia is sent to close it. She has safe Callum and the prodigal child. Will Kelia and Callum learn to trust each other, and work together? Plenty of action, twists and turns. Narration was really good.

intrigued

Good pace and intriguing characters. It was a little disconcerting that it kept referencing back to another incident yet did not give much more details, so I am guessing more to come in this series which will help fill in gaps.

Kelia + Callum = One Slow Burn Adventurous Ride!

Wow what a ride, Callum is everything I want in a fae, mysterious, powerful, loyal and swoon worthy. Kelia is powerful and watching her open up throughout the book made her one of my favorite characters.
This is a case where we aren't inundated with sex scenes, this gave me a chance to appreciate the slow growing feelings between Kelia and Callum as well as the progression of the story. I enjoy this world as I got to know it in the first book
I enjoyed Matyas Job Gombos narration, great job for Callum, took me a bit to get used to him for Kelia

*Note this can be read as a standalone but if you like this one I highly recommend book 1 (Moonlit Woods)

The Starlit City

I had a harder time getting into this book than the 1st. It's still good but it felt flat and my mind tended to drift.
