As danger increases in the County, Tom is sent far north by his master to be trained by Bill Arkwright, another Spook. As always, Joseph Delaney captures the imagination and holds the attention to the very last page. The Spook's Mistake is an amazing book which will not only keep you entertained, but waiting eagerly for the next volume too.
As a fan of the Spook's books, I can't recommend this enough.
The Spook's Mistake is the newest Wardstone Chronicles book and it's also by far the best (Ciaran R Murphy, www.Bestbooks4ever.com)
An exorcist and his apprentice continue to provide top-notch chills.
The Spook's Mistake is as good as, if not better than the previous four books in the Wardstone Chronicles series. Those who may have been concerned that the quality of the series may begin to wane needn't have feared as it continues to go from strength to strength. 9 out of 10 stars.

Oh it was so good to be back in this world, and to experience it in a new to me way - audio! I loved how emmersive the story telling felt.

I read the 4 first books a good few years ago and didn't realise how much I had missed these stories.

It was great seeing how Tom had grown as a character. He was still very timid in his apprenticeship and always finding more horrifying beasts to do battle with, but it was rewarding to see how after each encounter he became stronger and more sure of himself.

I enjoyed reading about some new/returning characters - Arkwright was a right piece of work. I didn't find I could empathise with him at all. The dogs on the other hand!

I loved learning all about water creatures!

Overall, I thought that this was a return to I had enjoyed the previous book slightly less.That felt this one was more engaging and has left me keen to listen to the next instalment.
