About this listen

When James wakes to see snow falling one December morning, he is delighted and rushes outside to make a snowman. With coal eyes, an old green hat and scarf and a tangerine nose, he is perfect, and James can hardly bear to go inside and leave him. In the middle of the night, he wakes and creeps out to see his snowman again - and to his amazement, the snowman comes to life....

This special tale of true Christmas magic will bring everyone's favourite childhood festive character to a brand-new audience.

I am a great fan of Richard Armitage and he has truly excelled in his reading of this magical story.
His voice is like an orchestra and he really captures the essence of what is like to be a child at Christmas.
Wonderful story by Michael Morpurgo which will surely become a Christmas Classic. I am planning to buy several copies of the book to give as Christmas presents and I will be reading it to my grandchildren but I also want them to listen to the story of James and his snowman friend. Thank you Richard for sprinkling some Christmas Magic. James says the snowman gave him his voice - you have given your voice to this narrative - I cannot rate this highly enough,

What a lovely story! Warm, sweet, and uplifting. The joy of a little boy and his childlike view of the world. Who knew a snowman could be so lovable! Absolutely charming narration by the unequalled Richard Armitage, yet again.

Enchanting

in a troubled world it is good to rediscover the innocence of childhood from time to time and listening to this delightful story was just the tonic for me. The Snowman has become a part of Christmas just like Christmas Carol and will live as long as the human race survives however long or short that may be. Always soothing to listen to Mr. Armitage's voice.
