About this listen

The brilliant new novel from the author of the highly acclaimed The Bone Keeper.
‘High-concept serial killer thriller with twists and heart. Stunning’ Steve Cavanagh

Six friends trapped by one dark secret.

It was supposed to be our last weekend away as friends, before marriage and respectability beckoned. But what happened that Saturday changed everything.

In the middle of the night, someone died. The six of us promised each other we would not tell anyone about the body we buried. But now the pact has been broken. And the killing has started again …

Who knows what we did? And what price will we pay?

The story is a good one not as predictable as most the narrator really makes the story come to life gives the thrilling and nervous atmosphere it needed . I think without that narrator the story would have fallen flat as an audible book

Good thriller worth a listen

I wasn’t sure about this but it drew me in and I was trying to work it out along with Matt. It kept me guessing. Not saying any more or it will spoil the ending.

Absorbing

I think it was the narrator. I hate to say it but droning voice bored me to such an extent that I had to skip through until the very last chapter. I really didn’t care at that point what had happened. It felt like one of those books where the author narrates their own story but shouldn’t have done. Sorry.

I hate giving a bad review but..

The premise was unbelievable but accepting that, I was enjoying the story. And then the conclusion. Ridiculous. If you don’t mind the far fetched, go for it.

Ridiculous

This is an excellent novel. The characters are richly drawn, the story is extremely strong and well written. I found it difficult to put down. The only downside here is the narration. It is actually very good in voice, pace and emphasis. The problem is much of it is set in Liverpool. Many of the characters are Liverpudlians and yet only Graham has a Scouse accent (the Manchester & North Lancashire accents also leave something to be desired), the narrator voices that accent perfectly well, so I am at a loss as to why it is not used for the other relevant characters!

Totally compelling!
