About this listen

Imagine that an entire village of Black slaves is magically transformed into White people in order to free them from slavery. Welcome to The Singing Village, a fictitious tale by Luther McKenzie that wraps you in a magical world of slaves who fight the hand of slavery with the only superpower given to them by their ancestors, their voice. The story takes place in the majestic Blue Mountains of Jamaica, spanning over a 200-year period from the days of slavery to modern-day Jamaica.

Seventeen-year-old Elijah is a tormented slave that is determined to be free or to die trying. His love for slave girl Seppi motivates him to plot their escape, but their ancestors have other plans to free the entire village, though they must make sacrifices. The harsh reality of slavery and the triumph of victory have a hefty cost. Life and blood are on the line. Not only will Elijah battle the slave masters, but also other dark forces await him.
