Summary

They only come when it snows, and nobody ever gets away.

A group of close friends gathers at a secluded cabin in the wintry mountains of Colorado for a final holiday hurrah. Instead, it may be their last stand. First a massive blizzard leaves them marooned. Then the more chilling realization: Something is lurking in the woods, watching them, waiting....

Now a weekend of family, friends, and fun has turned into a test of love and loyalty in the face of inhuman horrors. The only hope for those huddled inside is to fight - tooth and nail, bullet and blade - for their lives. Otherwise, they’ll end up like the monsters’ other victims: bright pools of blood on glittering snow, screams lost in the vast mountains.

Great listen !

Really enjoyed this audiobook. Narrator was good and the story had some great edge-of-your-seat moments.

just ok

General overview was just ok to be honest, more time with the creatures would have been good. they were such a small part of the story really.

Love Ania’s books

This was the first book of Ania’s that I have read. It creates such a vivid picture in your head you feel like you have seen a movie.

Very Entertaining

I love every minute of this. Great characters and rip roaring pace. The narration was poised and comfortable.
I think this is the first book I have listened to all the way through for a long time.
It delivers!

Gripping

This was a brilliant story just some folks taking a break in the woods in the snow, but they are not alone ,they get trapped and cannot escape the thing that is lurking in the woods, its gory in places too and gripping has you so want them to all get out alive I enjoyed every minute of it just wish it was longer.

not gripping enough

The premises of the book was good but the writing fell short. it takes too long to get into what's happening and then before you know it, it's all over too fast. A few good scenes towards the end and a couple of added stories in between but the main story spent too long on character relations (or not long enough with Ryan and lauren). narration was great though.

Had so much potential

The general storyline of this is great, it has creepy parts and some gross parts. The thing that lets it down is the character interactions. There’s a lot of petty arguments and pointless bitchiness, which really spoils the book, in my opinion. I ended up wanting all of them to just die, so that I wouldn’t have to listen to their ridiculous prose anymore.

Beautifully written tale of terror

This was the first book I have read by this author and I was blown away! The writing is first class and the plot was awesome. It played out just like a horror movie in my mind. I’m now off to read everything else by this author !!

Great slice of B movie magic in this.

Nothing in the story feels original or new, but it's a story told well. Each character well defined and the Narration is great.
Really has a strong b movie vibe which if your a fan of horror films like me is great.

Enjoyable but forgettable

Starts strong with good characterisation but characters then devolve into slasher movie level IQ when the action starts.

Could picture this as a forgettable B movie, good for killing a few hours / background while working on something else, but I doubt you'll remember anything of it a week down the line. Enjoy it while it lasts.
