Summary

He was about to be tried for treason. His gay lover had been ordered to kill him. He was trying to evade a clever inspector from the Privy Council as well as the Black Plague. And he had hired a bumbling actor named Shakespeare to front for his writings.

A bit of an oddity

I really liked the premise of this book but it didn’t quite satisfy and I’m not sure why. It dragged in the middle and the Shakespeare section is a relatively small part. As for the idea that Marlow wrote Shakespeare’s plays, well I’ll leave you to Google why that’s utter nonsense.
