Six months ago, Clementine West had the worst day of her life. So, she came up with a plan to keep her heart safe: stay busy, work hard, take no risks. And it’s been working.

That is until one day she finds a strange man standing in her kitchen. A man with kind eyes, a crooked smile, and a recipe for the perfect lemon meringue pie. The kind of man that, before everything, she could have fallen for …

He’s perfect but for one thing: he lives in the past. Seven years ago, to be exact.

This should be impossible, but Clementine used to love impossible things. And maybe, just maybe, she will again. After all, love is never a matter of time – but a matter of timing.

The Dead Romantics takes so many things I love—quirky heroines, found families, cozy small towns, fanfics, GHOSTS (!!!)—and gives them all a fresh, fun, thoroughly modern spin. This is truly a RomCom to die for!’

This audiobook would have gotten 5 stars from me if it hadn't been for the pronunciation of the MMCs name. The narrator continually says "ee-wan" as opposed to "yew-an" or "i-wan". This was the characters middle name as well, his first name was James! The American accent saying ee-wan kept jarring me out of the story.

The actual story itself was fabulous! Absolutely loved it! Can't wait to explore more of the author's work.

When you listen to audiobooks you pay more attention to the words used. I felt the author was so repetitive in her writing style, relied too much on descriptive metaphors and let’s be honest I legitimately could not understand the connection between the protagonist, her love interest and her aunt. Like I didn’t feel compelled by their story. Also absolutely hate that her nickname is Lemon lol.

I wanted to like this but I couldn’t

If you’re going to narrate a book
with a Welsh name, pretty damn prominent throughout. You might want to learn how to pronounce it.

Horrible mispronunciation

What a sweet and lovely little story about grief, love and finding your place in the world. Highly recommend. Great narration too.

Really enjoyed this

It starts off a little cheesy and admittedly the narration for other characters could’ve been better (voice wise). But…I really enjoyed this! Lemon & Elon had me get lost in time travel and the perils of navigating life as an adult. I struggle with goodbyes but my take away is that I can take things with me and relive the memories as much as I would like. Thank you for this bit of magic x
