A Police Shooting Amongst Racial Unrest
This story moves rapidly into the account of a defense attorney who covets the publicity the high profile murder case could bring him when he takes on the defense of a cop with a questionable past.
Drugs and a dirty cop along with racial tension set the tone of this story. It left me wanting to hear the story developed into a full unabridged novel because the plot was captivating and suspenseful. I would not normally bother with short stories, but Pamela Samuels Young stories are very interesting and hold my attention so well that I ordered the three shorts available on audible.
R.C Bray is one of my favorite narrators. He is a fantastic narrator of these novels.

Well written and well narrated short story!
The Setup story is superb. I have two of Pamela Samuels Young's full length novels in my Audible library that I look forward to reading. RC Bray's narration is excellent as always. I continue to think of him as a SciFi narrator, but he does mysteries very, very well.

Seems incomplete
What made the experience of listening to The Setup the most enjoyable?
The narration and concept was nice, I was getting wrapped in, then... nothing....
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would have completed it... I mean the story was developing but was suddenly over. And, all that was left were questions. I understand that this is a short story but I've heard jokes that have better character development and an ending better than this...

A fun and well written short story with a great twist, I definitely didn't see it coming. Very impressive. Listen to this narration, it's good.
