I really couldn’t put the book down at all. Then, I had a dog related accident halfway through reading (my greyhound chewed it to bits) I had to download the audio version asap! I’m so glad I did! What an amazing twist at the end ;-) Thank You Alice. Amazing writer x

Wow! Amazing!

The start was not promising, was not particularly thriller-ish either, but the further I listened the better it became.
Not so many unexpected twists and turns in the story, glad to say. Just a slow development to the end. Will listen to the second book as well.

An interesting point of view

Unfortunately the justice system is often long and slow. I’m guessing that there are a few people who will listen to this book hoping for the gore, the grit and the urgency of the police chasing a serial killer. This story is told from the perspective of the serial killer’s wife and it shows how slowly the justice system really moves, especially for those who are one step removed from the action.

The devil is indeed in the detail. It would be too easy to read this novel quickly, assuming that the wife is naive, even stupid but that would be to miss the point, and the detail, entirely.

It’s still there, maybe not the gore, but the menace certainly is.

There is a twist, though I wasn’t fussed about it, I felt that it was too obvious and unnecessary though I suppose that it will appeal to those who are hungry for definitive answers.

Aside from the twist (or lack of), this was good to listen to and yes, gripping, even though it was a slow burn.

Slowly burning towards the TNT barrel...

A couple of the narrators were fab but unfortunately the main one was very poor. Accents were awful and all the characters sounded the same.
I enjoyed the story and would definitely recommend the book!

Good story but annoying narration

Couldn’t stop listening to this once I started. Great narration. The end slightly disappointed in comparison to the rest though.

A compelling listen
