About this listen

Miles Kim, cyborg and relic of a war fading from memory, is on the last train ride of his life.

When a gang of bandits attacks the train, Miles and 100 passengers find themselves trapped in in a standoff in the middle of the desert. But there’s more to the robbery than meets the eye.

An unknown entity has set its sights on the Seraph Express and her passengers. As people start dying, Miles realizes that any rescue will be too late, and no one will make it out alive.

It’s a struggle for survival and a race to discover what is after them and who among the survivors is hiding a secret worth killing for.

An absolutely wonderful mashup of Western, Cyberpunk and Mystery that leaves you hungering for more by the end. The protagonist, Miles Kim, has more depth to him than I first expected and I hope the sequels delve further into his backstory. The plot itself isn't too complex but is well written and peopled with intriguing characters and hints at larger conspiracies yet to be unveiled. Ultimately The Seraph Engine is a strong opening to what will hopefully be a long running series.

Jonathan Waters narration is excellent as he moves through a range of emotions for the various characters portrayed. Hopefully he will be involved with the rest of the series on the future.

Excellent and Entertaining

Jonathan Waters narration is spot. I loved his different characters voices. Perfect for this different western.

Hands up , I really enjoyed listening to this book.
It's set in the future, but people are living back in the old west.
Oh yes we have human cyborgs, mechanical spiders, nuclear trains. But we have train robbers. Ols style sheriff's, Bounty hunters.
A train journey, that goes wrong. An let's say a retired army MP , hoping to make peace with his son.
Miles Kim finds himself, being needed and using his skills, but also having to stay under the radar.
Got used to the music.!!

Really enjoyed
