About this listen

• How many people are walking through the world convinced that they have to settle?

• What would happen if you didn't limit yourself by seeing yourself as a bunch of labels, and instead saw yourself as a catch?

• How fun would it be to be single without questioning your loveability, to date without taking rejection personally, and to have sex without hating your body?

Nearly every question life coach and queen of boundaries Michelle Elman is asked relates to one subject: dating.

Everything! Each chapter was useful even when it was not quite relevant to me currently. Lots of great tips, scenarios and advice given. I am going to relisten again.

The book I really needed to listen to.

Excellent look at contemporary dating and how to navigate it. I'm a therapist and I read this to see would it be a book that I recommend to clients who are struggling with the do's and don't's of dating. I'll be adding this and The Joy of Being Selfish to my recommended reading list.

Elman goes beyond the usual bounds of self help rhetoric and looks at core skills like emotional regulation, communication, and boundaries. She also looks at what you really want, including the valid choice to be single.

There's helpful summaries and exercises at the end of each chapter which act as an excellent jumping off point for anyone wanting to explore more.

Excellent guide:goes far beyond usual selfhelp

I just loved it. I immediately want to start from the start. It can be scary being “selfish” but once you start it’s amazing who shows up and sticks around.

If you could read one book about dating and relationships make it this one

I really loved this book. It’s full of really practical, tangible advice to help navigate the dating world. I like how the focus is self development throughout. It really feels like the big sister advice all us girls in our twenties are looking for.

This is why I love Michelle Elman. This book teaches you how to show up for yourself and that you can change your mindset around dating and how you view yourself. This book made me feel validated, hopeful and very emotional. It gave me tools to believe in myself. I will definitely relisten to this in the future. The only bad thing about this book is that it should've been longer!

A striking listen and a hopeful book.
