Beautifully written, chillingly atmospheric and utterly compelling, The Secret by the Lake is Louise Douglas at her brilliant best
A master of her craft, Louise Douglas ratchets up the tension in this haunting and exquisitely written tale of buried secrets and past tragedy.
A clammy, atmospheric and suspenseful novel, it builds in tension all the way through to the startling final pages.

Compelling!!!

A great story line, keeps you interested till the end. The narrator didn’t suit me, a bit over expressive, and therefore sounded disingenuous. Better when speeded up!

Super plot. Narrator not for me

I enjoyed this book. It compulsive listening and I completed it in one day. The narrator was good. Very easy to listen to and enthusiastic in her performance. The story took a while to unfold but when it got going it was excellent. A complete page turner. I liked the way the author tied up all the loose ends in the books conclusion. This is the first book I have bought by this author, but will definitely listen to more. A good use of a credit.
