Jack London worshiped strong and virtuous heroes, and his stories give great weight to the inevitable triumph of good over evil. His telling of the adventures of Humphrey van Weydon in The Sea Wolf is in keeping with this theme of moral man. His powerful and gripping saga of van Weydon's capture by a seal-hunting ship and the ensuing tangles with its dreaded captain, Wolf Larsen, makes this a classic American tale of peril and victory.

Read this when I was 18 and lived it and great listen again in my 60’s. The intellectual reasoning between the unschooled Wolf Larson and the educated Humphrey was first class. I think the romance of the newcomer towards the end took something away but nevertheless, loved it.

Capturing uncertainty, dynamics and misfortune at sea - sea wolf gives it's listener a wild tale of finding your way, going astray and how haunting the human mind can be. Love the performance by a young Patton. It makes the book immersive and tremendous.
