Summary

In 2010, Nick Polizzi did something unimaginable. He assembled a group of eight desperately ill patients from around the world and brought them into the heart of the Amazon rain forest to put the mysterious medicines of native shamans to the test.

The healing journey that unfolded would change their lives - and his own - forever.

In The Sacred Science, we join Nick as he explores these primordial traditions and learns firsthand what it takes to truly heal ourselves of physical disease, emotional trauma, and the sense of "lostness" that so many of us feel in these modern times. We venture into a place where the ordinary rules we live by, even survival instincts, don't apply - where "the only thing to do is to step forward and be ready for anything."

Nick is not a guru or shaman; he is an ordinary guy who pieced together an illuminating journey, one experience at a time. In this riveting true story, we're shown the many layers that must be peeled away in order for us to find the truth of who we are and why we're here.

This book is a bridge between the flashy, fast-moving modern world and the forgotten ways of a healthier, earth-connected ancestral past. You'll find practices and principles of native wisdom that you can put to use in your own life, and you'll gain a new understanding of what it means to heal.

In the end, what will become of the eight patients who set out on this path with Nick? Will the exotic jungle medicines and harrowing rites of passage destroy them or give them a new lease on life?

Five will return with remarkable healing results. Two will return disappointed. One won't return at all.

Really loved it

It was such an interesting book, very thought-provoking and inspiring. I loved the way it was written too, as if it came straight from the heart, like a friend was telling of a fascinating adventure. I listened to it on Audible and really enjoyed the narrative and voice of the author, who spoke calmly and slowly, with a lovely rich tone, so that the listener had time to take what was said. Wonderful - I didn't want it to end.

Fantastic book on power of nature

Highly recommend. Amazing book. Please upload more Nick. Thank you Nick. From my soul to yours. Ive listened twice already. Read or listen to the book first, before watching the amazing documentary. Where you can see the beautiful souls that stepped into that amazon to heal. Everyone hung in there but wishy washy Joe disappointing his whinging but the outcome good I wept when i heard about Gary and when i watched the documentary.

This book is a gift to the world. Planting a seed about inner searching for that natural resonance of rebalancing mind, body and soul. If mind, body and soul is out of sync it creates illness. If only people understood we need to get back to NATURE to heal us. Purify our water and diet. Self teaching about herbs, plants, barks eyc that heal.
Very well done both the book and the documentary. Nicks quest has led us all on the quest for truth too. A natural narrator im glad he did his own narration. The man was soul led on this journey.
I hope to see more of his books on Audible.

Im very much into natural healing atter healing end stage four cancer all naturally with herbs, barks, mushrooms, flowers, self taught Gerson Therapy.
Using deep tissue black salve made in Ecuador to remove 70 plus tumours out from head to toe naturally. From organs, bones, head, breasts arms and legs.
This book really resonates with the ability of nature to naturally heal.

I know nature heals, if obly people would also take their power back too. I climbed out the grave running bedbound to back to getting my life back. Now that i survived end stage four cancer with tumours and mets brain to ankle. I educate others on healing naturally also with cancer, illness and disease.
Im now on learning quest about nature studying more in depth now on the herbal natural combinations for different things. Learning what naturally occurs here where i live as well as sourcing dried natural global plants, barks etc

Fantastic book couldn't stop listening. Thankyou to all who participated in the nook, the anaxon experience and sending love and light to Garys Soul.

Magic.

This book is gift. It is not only entertaining and fully captivating, it is thick with wisdom. It’s magic is potable for those at any step along the spirit path, inclusive of advanced explorers and novices alike. Nick drops knowledge all over us, bolstered by both experience and research, with articulation, poignancy, and rawness. I laughed, I cried, I grew. It’s material like this that changes the world and helps steer us toward harmony and massive, cohesive joy.

A story beautifully told and read by Nick Polizzi.

Authentic, honest and transparent...a vulnerability rarely revealed in spiritual guidance. Forever grateful. Being (truely) oneself fearlessly is the greatest gift we can give this experience of life.

Take this journey it’s unlike anything else

Make no mistakes. This is not a self-development book, nor a health book. It is as intimate as a diary and as haunting as a mystery. There are no titles like this. Why? Because it is a unique experience. It is a record of the author his team and eight people who are facing deadly diagnoses and this is their hope for a longer life experience. What makes this so incredibly beautiful is how he manages to turn the patients into what J. Campbell calls a hero’s journey. Of course I have a deep compassion for their bravery.

It also takes you behind the scenes of the film with the same name. It’s not necessary to watch it but it is legally up so you can if you want to.

Note: Some of the practices can be deadly. Ask a doctor and use caution if you wish to try any treatment described in this book. It sadly has an ending. I am addicted. Did I mention his voice is healing in its own right ?

Pro-found

In every essence of the word this book is profound. It found me exactly where I am at on my journey and has given me all the guidance I have been asking for as of late. Thank you Nick, for your beautifully descriptive and brave display of your human experience. This book is exactly what we as humans need at this point in our consciousness and at this place in time. Lovely and and so resonant. Peace. -Dr. Tara Hogan D.C.

Inspiring with fascinating detail

To people who are drawn to this content and take it seriously, this is a fascinating description of a month with 8 people with chronic illnesses who the author brought to the Peruvian Amazon to work with several shamans. I appreciated the level of detail and apparent candor he brings to his recounting of these events, as well as the second part of the book, where he gives further insights into his personal work and the advice he has for others. It rang true to me. Part way through the book, I decided to watch the film based on the events, to put pictures to the images in my mind. I strongly recommend this. They complement each other well. (Film has the same title as book, and is free on the website of the same name).
