Story
The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

Story
My planned trip for two unexpectedly turned into a trip for one. Rather than let my breakup get me down, I packed my bags and decided a week at a luxury resort was just what I needed. But one calamity after the next, and suddenly I was stuck without a hotel room, along with a few hundred other people. It looked like my fancy vacation was about to turn into me sleeping on the hotel lobby floor. Until I overheard a gorgeous man pretending to be someone he wasn’t in order to steal a reservation from a guest who hadn’t shown up yet.

A new standalone novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author, Vi Keeland. The night I met Drew Jagger, he'd just broken into my new Park Avenue office. I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills. He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing. Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant. Only, turned out, he wasn't an intruder at all. Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He'd been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar. He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out. When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight -- telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass. You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend-smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married. He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he'd done.

It was just a typical Monday. Until the big boss asked me to make the pitch for a prospective new client. After two years on shaky ground at work because of my screw up, an opportunity to impress the senior partners was just what I needed. Or so I thought, until I walked into the conference room and collided with the man I was supposed to pitch to. My coffee spilled, my files tumbled to the ground, and I almost lost my balance. And that was the good part of my day. Because the gorgeous man who crouched down and looked at me like he wanted to eat me alive was none other than my ex.

Bennett Fox walked into my life on one hell of a crappy Monday morning. I was late for the first day at my new job - a job I’d now have to compete for, even though I’d already worked eight years to earn it, because of an unexpected merger. While I lugged my belongings up to my new office, a meter maid wrote me a parking summons. She’d ticketed a long line of cars - except for the Audi parked in front of me, which happened to be the same make and model as mine. Annoyed, I decided to regift my ticket to the car that had evaded a fine.

It all started with a bet. When my young son inherited half of his great grandfather’s historic inn, I decided to move us both to the place where I grew up. Notice I said half of the Inn. The other half now belonged to Levi Miller, the famous quarterback who had other ideas about what we should do with the property. We won’t mention that I accidentally injured him during our first meeting, causing him to get eight stitches. You could say we got off on the wrong foot. We bickered a lot as we both moved into the property while we figured things out.

It started out like any normal day. Then the fender bender happened. The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth. Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway - one I was excited about. Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress. Something blue. I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

Donovan and I met at a coffee shop to do the suitcase exchange. Turned out, it wasn’t just his voice that was sexy. The man holding my luggage was absolutely gorgeous, and we had an immediate spark. He got me to admit that I’d snooped in his bag and then convinced me to make it up to him by letting him buy me coffee. Coffee led to dinner, dinner led to dessert, and dessert led to spending an entire weekend together. So what did I do to repay him for his kindness? I waited until he was in the shower, then ghosted him.

Finding a good roommate through a classified ad isn’t as easy as it sounds. I was starting to lose hope. Until a knock at my door came, and God answered my prayers. Except...uh...wrong prayer, God. I’d definitely requested the big guy find me a drop-dead gorgeous man on more than one occasion...just not as my roommate. Declan Tate talked me into interviewing him anyway. Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice - the only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face, in between our many arguments.

Summary
A new, sexy standalone from number one New York Times best seller Vi Keeland.
The feud between Weston Lockwood and me started at the altar.
Only neither of us attended the wedding, and the nuptials happened decades before either of us was born.
Our grandfathers had been best friends and business partners, at least up until my grandfather’s wedding day - when his bride-to-be blurted out she couldn’t marry him because she was also in love with Weston‘s grandfather.
The two men spent years fighting over Grace Copeland, who also happened to be their third business partner. But in the end, neither man could steal half of her heart away from the other.
Eventually, they all went their separate ways. Our grandfathers married other women, and the two men became one of the biggest business rivals in history.
Our fathers continued the family tradition of feuding. And then Weston and I did, too.
For the most part, we kept as much distance as possible.
Until the day the woman who started the feud died - and unexpectedly left one of the most valuable hotels in the world to our grandfathers to share.
Now I’m stuck in a hotel with the man I was born to hate, trying to unravel the mess our families inherited.
As usual, it didn’t take long for us to be at each other’s throats.
Weston Lockwood was everything I hated: tall, smart, cocky, and too gorgeous for his own good. We were fire and ice.
But that shouldn’t be an issue. Our families were used to being at war. There was just one minor problem, though. Every time Weston and I fought, we somehow wound up in bed.

A SEXY ENEMIES TO LOVERS ROMANCE
A sexy, enemies-to-lovers standalone
Another fabulous book by Vi Keeland
I listened to The Rivals in audio narrated by Sebastion York ad Andi Arndt as always these two narrators really brought the characters to life.
I loved it. This book has more than enough to keep you interested. I love the push and pull, the hotness, the humor, and the history behind the family feud.
Weston is a hot sexy laid-back kind of guy and Sophia is a fire businesswoman. Both of them have never been good enough in their father's eyes, something they both have in common so when they are both thrown together at the same hotel its fire and ice until the ice melts and there's a different kind of heat.
A great read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Not all smiles and roses, but I’m hopeful
Enemies to lovers in the best possible way. Weston Lockwood and Sophia Sterling have known each other nearly all their lives, and most of that time they’ve hated each other with a passion. You know one thing for sure, there’s a fine line between love and hate, and this story is living proof of that. The family feud has been going on since their grandfathers (who were once the best of friends,) fell in love with the same woman, Grace Copeland. After their feud they all parted ways, yet when Grace died she leaves them both equal shares in the hotel she owned, The Countess. When Weston and Sophia are sent by their grandfathers to manage the hotel, things get a little heated, and their hatred for each other comes out in their attraction to each other. A predictable story, wonderfully written with two equally broken, yet loveable, compassionate and very sexy main characters. Totally addictive. Narration couldn’t have been better, Andi Arndt and Sebastian York were made for the roles of Weston and Sophia.

ADDICTIVE UNSTOPPABLE STORYTELLING
With decades of bad blood between their two Hotelier families, there’s no wonder Sophia Sterling (aka Fifi) and Weston Lockwood were on opposite sides of the Hotel war. As ambassadors of their family’s 49% bequeathed share in the Countess Hotel, Sophia and Weston are jointly sent to soothe the staff, sort out any problems and oversee time-sensitive renovation. But most importantly.. they had to make the winning bid for the crucial up-for-grabs remaining 2% shares which would make their family the majority controlling shareholder. However, their verbal snarky conflicts, feisty frictions, sex rules, anger-fuelled sexcapades and intimate dinners, slowly blurs boundaries, changes priorities, builds trust and loyalty and softens hearts.. but it’s not all plain sailing because someone‘s going to win and someone’s going to loose.
This, for me, was the perfect enemies-to-lovers story because it had it all.. and so so much more. There’s seismic clashing with toe-curling chemistry.. a rollercoaster of actions and reactions.. a stepping over - walking in-between and blurring of all kinds of lines.. family politics.. relationship angst.. humor.. heat and a sweet swoony happy ever afters. Couple that with Sebastian and Andi’s first class dual POV narration and you’ve got a definite 5 star audiobook.
Worth a credit? Yes.. it’s well-written, well-paced, fun, hot and had me happily staying awake til the wee hours.

Conflicted on this one…
I normally enjoy Vi's stories but this one is a strong miss for me!.....The story is related to two feuding families forced to play nice with each other while jointly managing a lucrative hotel property until the one family can buy the other family out of their portion of the hotel. That in and of itself is not a very interesting topic but add to that completely unlikable characters and it all adds up to a miss...
About the characters:
Weston is a wholly unlikeable character regardless of his past or whether he was used for spare parts as a child. His cluelessness and sexual bullying/harassment was just wrong!
Sophia is an unprincipled, spineless whimp of character who is badgered and bulled by EVERYONE! She doesn't stand up for herself at all and her character needs a swift kick in the pants to stop allowing herself to be used and talked down too.
The two main character together are not a good combo at all.
Sophia's father and step brother are slimy jacka$$'s. nothing further need to be said about them.
The only real positive with this book is the narration. Andi and Sebastian made enduring this terrible story some somewhat bearable. I did finally give up with 2 hours left after multiple attempts to continue listening. I will definitely be returning this one!
Sorry Vi but this is a big strike out....

These are two of my favorite narrators so when they come together in a book written by Vi Keeland it’s a must buy. I really enjoyed the characters and that they had a past and history that kept them from having a simple HEA. Both of them had to work for it and it made their story that much better.

Sophia and Weston are in the middle of a long standing family feud. Neither has much support from their families but they spent their lives hating each other. So what could go wrong when the woman who started the feud dies and each family has to fight for controlling interest in a classy hotel? Sophia and Weston are each sent to the hotel to figure out if they want it and secretly try to outbid the other. But there's a fine line between love and hate! Absolutely loved this book!!!

Predictable but enjoyable!
Vi Keeland did not disappoint with this enemies-to-lovers story❣️Weston and Sofia both have their share of family drama and feelings of inadequacy leading them both to feel like “the black sheep” of their respective families, but drive them to overcome some very tough emotional hurdles. I only wish that their HEA wasn’t quite so predictable. Yes, I wanted them to be together but I also wanted a more significant and unshakable bonding between the two of them. There were some aspects of the story that were underdeveloped (the shrink, the repercussions of dating the enemy, the ex-boyfriend dating your cousin, betrayal, etc.) were alluded to but left unfinished. While both Sebastian York and Andi Arndt performances were stellar there was something missing in the storyline for me, at least. However I did enjoy the listening experience.

sexy as hell
Rivals is a smokin hot steamy story, even though Weston and Sophie have known each other since they were young and have been taught to be enemies. when they argue the Sparks fly and it heats up. Weston is cocky sure of himself and a little sweet makes you love them all the more and Sophia is just the girl you want to root for. the story will make you cry a little and for me it even made me cry happy tears the narrator's did such a wonderful job is these characters.

Pass the time
It was a good story to listen to. The characters are quite Busy bees in the company, they grew up together, working together, and a lot of steamy moments. So, for me, apparently I didn’t get anything out of it, any life lesson learned or even, being part of the main character- Due to the fact, I can not relate to them. However, what I did get is being the audience, seeing how it will unfold & that’s okay. I do wish they had a little more development of the characters instead of always getting it On with one another. Trust me, in bed, a whole lot of chemistry. Haha. I still crave to finish the book. So this one is those books, I think, is meant to have Be a summer book- to have good time & chill. This is just a fun read and nothing more. Yup, I still enjoyed it.

WOW
Loved-Loved-Loved this book!!! I have been waiting on it to come out on Audible and was not disappointed. What wonderful banter between the two characters and the attraction and heartfelt emotions especially toward the end had me in tears and rooting for them. I will definitely listen to this book again- listened to the whole book in one day could not stop. Worth the credit!!!
And the narrators were perfection!!!!
