About this listen

Go back to the beginning of the end of the world....

Hell has come to earth as sadistic zombies rampage and massacre the human population. Reverend Thomas Martin has lost his congregation to the chaos but has found two wayward survivors to protect—Becky and John. The three of them have holed up in Martin's church in a desperate attempt for survival. But as supplies run low and civilization crumbles around them, Martin must come to a realization—God has abandoned them. But why?

Is there any chance of hope in this new world? Is there any chance for deliverance?

Modern horror legend, Brian Keene returns to his fan-favorite universe of The Rising with a tale of faith, loss, and zombies.

This special edition also includes two short stories that expand and explore The Rising mythos—"The Resurrection and the Life" and "The Siqqusim who Stole Christmas."

Great novella that gives more backstory to one of Keene's best characters, Reverend Thomas Martin. Also gets a few more glimpses to the post apocalyptic world, that is never a bad thing!
Narration is on point, Joe Hempel never lets you down!

Great addition to the world of The Rising

If you haven't read 'City of the Dead' yet, read it first. It made sense for me to read the prequel story of Martin before I moved onto 'City of the Dead', but the author gives out a huge spoiler which ruined that book for me.

The short story of Martin includes some of the original narrative from book 1 so there's not a lot of new information to be had. The next short story is very religious and I gave up half way through.

I received this book for free of my own choosing and voluntarily left this review.

A quick tale
