Across the bottom of the screen the ticker tape announced in large black letters 'Governor Reynolds Murdered'. Apparently his body had been discovered earlier that morning, lying in his garage. He had been shot twice. One shot to the upper chest, the other hitting his shoulder. 'Police believe that the weapon used was a 38 revolver,' the reporter said. Kendall froze. Anthony Shaw had also been killed by a 38 calibre bullet. Kendall was not quite sure of what it all meant. What connection was there between Anthony Shaw, and the State Governor, and the business mogul, Ian Duncan. And what about Senator Mackenzie? Where did he fit in? And who or what was Latimer?

Two years after Cather’s death, only a visit from Maria Radovich - and the urging of Wolfe’s prize assistant, Archie Goodwin - could draw the eccentric and reclusive genius back into business. Summary
Kelly Ingram is a rising star who has everything going for her - great looks, a livewire personality, enough talent to get by on, a new TV series, and a new lover. She also has an agent and a producer who hate each other, but they still manage to work well enough together to keep Kelly's career moving in the right direction.
But then a friend is murdered, a harmless scriptwriter who should have been no threat to anyone. The scriptwriter's mother enters Kelly's life, a history professor named Fiona Benedict who dislikes everything the actor stands for. Mediating between them is Sgt. Marian Larch of the NYPD, assigned to investigate the murder.
What Marian turns up is a tale of ambition and envy and betrayal going back 15 years. Kelly, Fiona, and Marian - three women who have absolutely nothing in common except the act of murder that brings them together - take turns telling the story, which ultimately demonstrates how friendship can blossom in even the unlikeliest of circumstances.

Reader and book were not a good match
I love Barbara Paul's novels and was excited to get the audio version. Unfortunately, there were a lot of mispronounced words, poorly stressed sentences, and pacing problems. Maybe more the director than the narrator?
