Wentworth, Ohio: a small friendly town where the Carver children bicker over sweets in the E-Z shop and writer Johnny Marinville is the only resident who minds his own business.

On Poplar Street, apart from the impending storm, it's just a normal summer's day - with Frisbees flying, lawn mowers humming and barbeques grilling. As the paperboy makes his round, he is unaware of the chrome red van idling up the hill . . .

Soon the residents will be caught up in a game of wills as the regulators arrive in force to face a child whose powers of expression are just awakening.

If you like THE REGULATORS, don't miss DESPERATION, written as an unidentical pair.

Stephen King stories seem to me to work best when there's something credible about them. There's not a lot in this one - well whacky is my summary. The reader Frank Muller is good, but there's just too much incredible in this story for my taste!

Not one of his best

From the imagination of King himself comes this extraordinary tale of TAC, a unknown entity from the bowels of the earth, who inhabits a young boy and causes havoc most evil on a small town way out west! Written as only King could write!

Nothing short of pure terror in suburbia!

This book is an interesting companion to Stephen King's Desperation. The narrator is extraordinary, he elevates a middle of the road story. There are some audio issues, there's a noticeable echo in some parts, for quite long stretches at a time

Narrator is phenomenal.

It's always sad listening to a Frank Muller book as he was so good at them, and after his fatal accident, there will obviously be no more. However, this was great and linked in with Desperation, as the baddie enters the body of an 8 year old autistic boy called Seth.

The whole story only spans one afternoon, but it doesn't seem like a long, drawn out listen at all. It's fast and intriguing and you dread which members of the neighbourhood are going to make it, each time a new volley of deadly shots flies in.

Where does The Regulators rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best SK books behind Cell, Duma Key and Under the Dome.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Seth

What does Frank Muller bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Not much. He reads it well but others he has read (Talisman) has fallen short but credit where due for this one.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.....too long and needed to absorb.

Any additional comments?

Great book. Going to try book I think is linked "Desparation".

Terrific book and performance
