About this listen

A local animal hoarder, her missing son, and a condemned home filled with secrets

In Midcoast Maine, Jamie Flint and her K-9 team search for the cognitively challenged son of a local animal hoarder, while recently licensed private investigator Jack Juarez looks into a murder related to the case. Unfortunately, each new clue Jack finds in the investigation seems to lead him back to a suspect police already have in their sights: Jamie's son. Meanwhile, Jamie fights to save a critically ill pit bull pulled from the hoarder's home who could hold the key to the woman's dark secrets.

Love the characters, love how the story follows on from the previous two books, love the narrator’s voice

I loves these 3 books and I'm sad there is no more, I want to live in the island and look after all the dogs :)

Excellent story line beautifully read ,equally as good as the two previous stories can’t wait for next one

Nancy's "rescue sanctuary" is heartbreaking, although it is initially easy to see how she may have become overwhelmed....until they find the rest of the evidence...
There are many twists and turns, self revalations and a little woo woo, but this is a solid third book. The investigation is intense and Jamie and Jack make some great steps forward in what has been a very slow build up into a relationship. It is lovely to see Bear and Ren also finding a more solid footing after some tough times and I have high hopes for Archie - which brings me to my only grumble, there are a couple of threads/plotlines that are left dangling at the end of this book. I was hoping there would be a book four but not so far, so we have no idea what Brock's voice is leading up to....or was it just a distraction?
This a great series, even if I would like another book, I originally read this on Kindle a few years ago, but listened to it this time on Audible.

A brutal murder, heartbreaking abuse and evidence that leads to....Bear!
