Mildly twisted, fast-paced paranormal romance

I enjoy the instant yet confusing chemistry between these two complex characters. She is the daughter of an ex-military types who seems to be heading a shady mercenary group. He is a werewolf ex-Navy Seal hiding in plain site from her father. The plot itself is not complicated but each character has only bits of information required to stay safe. And of course there is a pregnancy.

This was an enjoyable paranormal romance to listen to, especially as it has all the components you would expect from this genre: a hot werewolf, a feisty strong woman, a dangerous situation, chemistry, a twist in the story, bad guys and greedy guys. There is plenty of action and the story is quite fast paced.

LOVED IT!!

I have read both books in the series and must say this was even better than the last~ It was a great story, entertaining, and suspenseful. Ellie's shifter stories are different than a lot of others I have read. I feel that she doesn't just focus on the shifter story line but focuses on the main overarching story. The shifter aspect is not the main story. I like it!

Narration of the series is top-notch! Meghan does a great job of bringing the story to life. Thanks!

**Note: I received this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. It in no way affected my opinion.

Good story brought to life by narrator

I’ll be honest, paranormal shifters are not generally my thing but I surprised myself with The Red Wolf and enjoyed it… perhaps it’s because it’s on audiobook. Although, give me a good secret baby story any day of the week and I’ll devour it!! I didn’t read or listen to book 1 but nothing seemed weird or off for me. This seemed like a complete standalone.

I really liked Josephine even if she bugged me a smidge, she was still likable. She was a relatable character that makes mistakes and has flaws like we all do. Edward was a bit closed off and aloft. He’s been used in the past and he’s a bit skeptical of people. There was an amazing about of heat in this book… it was animalistic! I was a bit on the iffy side listening to this story. I don’t normally go outside of my comfort zone but with audiobooks I’m trying to be a bit more adventurous. I’ve never heard of this author, Ellie Valentina, however she writes extremely well and her characters are deep and evolved. Josephine might have gotten on my nerves a bit but not so much that I was done.

The narrator, Meghan Kelly, did a fantastic job with the different characters. I felt like she was able to bring something more to this book… to make it feel more dimensional. I’m not sure I would have read this book but I really enjoyed listening to it!

Great shifter listen!

Plenty of romance and good doses of humor and action made for a fantastic listen. Loved the characters, Josie and Jake have such an interesting story. Amazing narrator too, she is easily one of my favorites to listen to and always brings each character to life with a unique voice. Don’t let the cover mislead you

First, Jake is a werewolf, not wolf. The title makes you think he is in mating heat, which is not accurate. This way, you won’t have the annoyance of expecting one thing and getting another.
Very sweet but not stupid Josie met Jake at her girlfriends wedding and decided to have a one night stand with him. She ends up in the family way, then runs away from her manipulative father and to Jake. This way, you can enjoy the story for the pleasant time out.
Ms Kelly does a creditable job with narration.

Whirlwind romance

A thrilling and wild ride for Jake and Josephine. A great second book to The Werewolves on Heat series. Jake and Josephine seem to be bound together by a common enemy but their secrets and past hurts may be the biggest threat to a happily ever after. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and characters. Josephine is a great lead character with a lot of charm and I love that Jake is a gentleman and overall great guy. What makes this story so awesome is that the supporting characters Bill and Lucy have such great personality. The story line was easy to follow and the narration was great!

Try again!

I was all in with this basic and pretty formulaic shifter romance story until the heroine gives birth in a tunnel and than literally moments later cleans up and heads back to bait her father into coming clean about his misdeeds. To make it look like she's still pregnant, she stuffs a sweater under her shirt. Ummmm yeah, any woman or anyone who has seen a pregnant woman knows you don't just give birth and pop back up. Also stuffing a sweater under your shirt doesn't magically look the same. Over it!

Narrating could have been better

The narrator sounded rasp, like she was forcing her voice. A smoother voice would have been a lot better
