Summary

Ambitious Daily Sentinel journalist Lauren King is chaffing on LA’s vapid social circuit, reporting on glamorous A-list parties while sparring with her rival - the formidable, icy Catherine Ayers. Ayers is an ex-Washington political correspondent who suffered a humiliating fall from grace, and her acerbic, vicious tongue keeps everyone at bay. Everyone, that is, except knockabout Iowa girl King, who is undaunted and unimpressed and gives as good as she gets.

One night a curious story unfolds before their eyes: one political launch, 34 prostitutes and a palette of missing pink champagne. Can the warring pair work together to unravel an incredible story?

This is a lesbian fiction with more than a few mysterious twists.

Loved it

Great characters, witty dialogue, clever romance. Very enjoyable — looking forward to reading more in this series. Also, really liked the narrator.

Ticks all the boxes

I love a story which has great characters and an intriguing plot. Lee Wnter is skilled at combining mystery and romance and the sarcastic bite guarantees a laugh as well.

Lee winter has not failed yet!

Another great book by Lee Winter. Couldn't stop listening.
Great characters once again. The performer brought both personalities to life and made you want to root for them..even the caustic queen.

Gripping, funny and romantic

What a cracking book! Such a refreshing change to read a lesbian book that has a superb and skilfully woven plot, a wide cast of credible characters, snappy and authentic dialogue without any of the 'instalove' that makes so many books in this genre dull and predictable. This is a real classic and I loved it. To be honest I wouldn't have voiced Catherine Ayers with such a drawl but that's the only slight reservation I have. Lee Winter is a very, very good writer.

Thoroughly enjoyed this

Great story, clever, great characters, driven, ambitious, clever dialogue, good language choices. I am a Jericho fan and this satisfied me on the same level.

Another great story

Another great story and very well narrated and not just about the romance but that was well written in context with the story without detracting in any way from the overall perspective of the narrative

Bit of a drag...

I bought this on the back of Lee Winter's other book on Audible - The Brutal Truth. Well, the brutal truth is that I didn't find this very enjoyable. Frankly, I almost gave up caring. I found the whole thing really rather boring, I don't know if it was due to the narrators somewhat dull voice or the slight disbelief in the main characters. All in all, not recommended.
