About this listen

After years of war, Army Ranger Quinn Colson returns home to the rugged, rough hill country of northeast Mississippi to find his native Tibbehah County plagued by corruption, decay, meth runners, and violence. His uncle, the longtime county sheriff, is dead. A suicide, he’s told, but others—like tomboy Deputy Lillie Virgil—whisper murder.

In the days that follow, it’s up to Colson to discover the truth, not only about his uncle but about his family, his friends, his town, and himself. And once it’s discovered, there’s no turning back for this real hero of the Deep South.

A good story set in the poorer part of the South of the USA. Not brilliant but well worth a listen.

My first read of this author, and I loved it, I also felt the narrator played a big part into transporting me to the southern states of US.

Quinn is an enigmatic and alluring character who clearly has lots to unfold, what an interesting man and he loves dogs. Great storyline, as with all my favourite stories its totally believable. Love the dangling of the romantic connection with Lilli particularly at the end, now I just have to wait for my next credit to come but all these are now on my wish list.

Loved the insight to US law structure

If you like James Lee Burke, you will love this book as well. Well portrayed and deep characters, in a realistic setting. Great first book in the series. I look forward to the next.

Right up my creek!
