Summary

Liza Sutherland isn't looking for love. Not from a charity-auction date she didn't even bid on and especially not with Nationals first baseman Cole Collins, the guy she obsessed over as an awkward teenager. She won't get involved with a notorious player, no matter how attractive Cole is.

Cole Collins is up for contract renegotiation, but after too many late-night parties, he'll need some positive publicity before he can make the roster. His agent Frank pitches Liza as the perfect prop - only Cole didn't account for Liza no longer being just a teenager with a crush. She's gorgeous and smart and he's instantly hooked.

When Frank makes Liza a deal she can't refuse - a bet she will fall in love with Cole or a cool half mil goes to charity - the game is on. But neither bet on the real feelings that surface. Could a fake fling turn into an official forever?

Something to pass the time

I got fed up with the constant reference to Wez, yes he died and the reader/listener doesn't need to be reminded. The story is ok and if you have time to pass this book will do. I wouldn't listen to this story again. I like more passion in my romance books.

Sweet Second Chance At Love

I found this book to be very sweet and a great second chance at love story. I would’ve enjoyed a male narrator for male parts, however I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I really enjoyed the baseball rivalry and the fact that as a woman she knew so much about the sport. No graphic love scenes. Just a sweet love story. It’s free with audible plus. You can’t go wrong.

Meh

I liked the story line but felt the narration completely ruined it. I ended up skipping through most of the book just to get to the end.

A Swing and a Miss

Some pot and kettle in this story. But the dual lying isn’t the biggest downfall. It’s the story itself. If I were 16 and looking for a romance story, this might rate 4 stars. However, I am an adult and there is a lot of juvenile parts to this that just make me dislike both characters.

I prefer strong characters with backbones and these two are like limp noodles.

Mediocre at Best

The story, though somewhat predictable, was acceptable. It was the narration that was just the worst. How can someone narrate an entire book with the same, slow pacing and countless mispronunciations. Did the narrator check any words for proper pronunciation? Was there no editor?
This should not have been published in this condition.

good story, ok narration

decent story. narrator was a little whiney at times. also, need to really know your words and reading of you are going to narrate a book. several words were mispronounced that have several different pronunciation (like read and read... alright I can't remember the words now).

Was ez to get into the first 10-15 minutes of the book, but then lost my attention and had to Re-listen to a few parts. Not sure if it was the story or the narration.

Cute but predictable.

*Warning- plot line spoilers part way through review.* The plot was cute but very predictable and prosaic. The performance was well done. I would consider other works from this author but hope the plots are more inspired. For most of the book the characters were very frustrating with their ‘behind the scene’ deals that you knew would blow up in their faces. The FMC kept promising she was going to be honest but the timing just wasn’t right- that’s ridiculous! Pick up the phone or just open your mouth. The story had a sweet resolution that partially redeemed the characters but, eh, not sure how much they deserved their happily ever after.

Baseball

This is a cute story about a reunited love. I really enjoyed the characters and how they developed. However, it’s a regular story about a bad boy turn good because of a woman.
