Story
Is intention simply wishful thinking, or is it a force that can actually change the world around you? Nobody has made a more comprehensive investigation of the power of the mind to influence the universe than Lynne McTaggart. Her conclusion: Thought does shape reality, but much depends on how skillfully the thinker can use his or her intention. With Living with Intention, this groundbreaking author builds upon her findings from The Field to explore what makes mind-over-matter work, what can interfere with its effectiveness, and how you can use focused thought to enhance your life, help those around you, and transform your world.

Story
Based on interviews with today's cutting-edge scientists, investigative journalist Lynne McTaggart wrote The Field, a compelling presentation of the theory that there is a measurable "life force" in the universe. Now, in this original audio adaptation by the author, McTaggart takes listeners on a journey into this exciting arena of science, called the "Zero-Point Field", that could be the key to understanding "supernatural" forces, healing energy, and the nature of consciousness.

Story
Random House presents the audiobook edition of Where the Light Gets In by Lucy Dillon. 'You know those cracks in your heart, Lorna, where things didn’t work out, but you picked yourself up and carried on? That’s where the fear gets out. And where the light gets in.' It was Betty, defiant to the end, who sent Lorna back to Longhampton. If Lorna’s learned one thing from Betty, it’s that courage is something you paint on like red lipstick, even when you’re panicking inside. And right now, with the keys to the town’s gallery in her hand, Lorna feels about as courageous as Betty’s anxious little dachshund trembling beside her.

The idea that “thoughts become things” has become a meme in popular culture. It’s held as a firm proposition in metaphysics, and some spiritual teachers ascribe infinite powers to the mind. But are these claims scientifically accurate? What does the scientific evidence tell us about the scope of the human mind to transform thoughts into reality?

Summary
Discover how to tap in to your extraordinary human capacity for connection and healing using astonishing new findings about the miraculous power of group intention and its boomerang effect in this new book by the author of the international best sellers The Intention Experiment and The Field.
What we send out into the universe comes back to us magnified. Although the power of intention - the energy of positive thoughts - is widely accepted as an influential force in transforming lives, the exponential power of group intention has never been explored - until now.
In The Power of Eight, Lynne McTaggart, an expert on the science of spirituality, reveals her remarkable findings from 10 years of experiments about how group intention can heal our lives - and change the world for the better. When individuals in a group focus their intention together on a single target, a powerful collective dynamic emerges that can heal longstanding conditions, mend fractured relationships, lower violence, and even rekindle life purpose. But the greatest untold truth of all is that group intention has a mirror effect, not only affecting the recipient but also reflecting back on the senders.
Drawing on hundreds of case studies, the latest brain research, and dozens of McTaggart's own university studies, The Power of Eight provides solid evidence showing that there is such a thing as a collective consciousness. Now you can learn to use it and unleash the power you hold inside of you to heal your own life, with help from this riveting, highly accessible new book.

Unpleasant Narration
I signed up to be a part of a power of 8 group in my hometown and so I listened to the book in preparation for our first gathering. The narration made it very difficult to get through this book. The narrator has a lovely fluid voice for most of a paragraph then will shift into a very harsh, grating voice that was almost unbearable. It was difficult to focus on the content because of the narrator's shifts in intonation.

JARRING NARRATOR
I loved the book, but the voice of the narrator is a challenge. Quite pleasant and melodious in the upper range, it starts most every paragraph with a sudden drop into a lower pitch, where her voice is harsh and "growly". This creates quite a jarring effect and makes listening to the book rather challenging. I found myself in need of frequent breaks from her voice.
I'd seriously consider re-recording of this amazing book!

Power of Prayer
Praying in groups is always more powerful especially when everyone is in unison with an intention. You feel it and faith combined with belief carries the intention it to fruition.
In this book, the author gets into the science of how it works. It can get technical and for me slightly boring but hey it’s science. Science can be complicating. But it needs to be explained for all of us that ask the question, “ But how....?” You ask and now you know.
The juicy part of the book is toward the last chapter. How to form a power of 8 group and how to make it work. Now, I need to find 8 people to form a group and commit to The Power Of Eight.

Another disapointment
Too many statistics recited -- it's almost as if it doesn't know what it wants to be, stories about the successful experiments or a quantitative report. Yes, it could be both - -but more artfully strung together.
And worse - I got curious and joined the online group run by the author and discovered that in order to "help" people in these experiments, they focused on the horrific details of their ailments instead of seeing the subject as a whole being with the intrinsic potential for total health and thriving... it's amazing to me that have any success.
I've known about Lynn McTaggart's work for a while and I respect what she's trying to accomplish.
I hope to discover that she turned that group over to someone else and will one day take it back and turn it around so that her book and her real-world actions as represented by this group are much better aligned
I'm returning the book unfinished

Recording quality is poor on this recording
The recording quality on this recording is very poor. it's very easy to tell where the reader stopped & continued again with different tone & inflection in the voice. I found that to be very distracting for me! The information is true to McTaggarts meticulous research however. I listen to audio books so much because of my commute. Looks like I'll have to by the physical copy of the book!

Should be re-recorded
I enjoy Lynne McTaggart's writing, but I could not finish this audiobook due to the very unpleasant nature of the narrator's speaking style. She starts many sentences with a harsh, staccato cadence and an aggressive tone of voice. By mid sentence, she transitions into speaking normally, then by the end of the sentence, she speaks slowly and wistfully. The listener is then jarred from the gentle cadence at the end of a sentence, back to the unpleasant harshness of the beginning of the next sentence. This patterns repeats countless times over and over. With 3 hours remaining in the audiobook, I just couldn't handle her voice any further and had to discontinue listening. If this is ever re-recorded with a more natural sounding narrator, I would gladly finish the audiobook.

little science, mostly anecdotes
I really wanted to enjoy this story, and see the science behind intentional thought. mostly the author begins to talk about science experiments, but only follows up on the results of about half of them. the rest of the book, and the majority of the meat, is anecdotes. which is actually pretty disappointing for someone like me, who came to this book looking for legitimate science around the power of human thought

Powerful!
What I love about this book is all of the scientific research that went into figuring out the details. I am a Reiki Master so I know about energy, but for those of you that are skeptics, the research alone should be enough to convince anybody.

Love the topic, not a fan of this book
I've heard the author on various podcasts over the years and thought I'd grab one of her books. I belive I picked the wrong book to try though as I found it a bit boring. Every other paragraph felt like " Mary from Ohio felt this way" and Bob from Florida experienced such and such" it seemed quite repetitive. The gist of the book could have really been summed up pertty thoroughly in one chapter IMO. And while I don't discount anecdotal evidence and participant testimony, the method used sounded repetitive and I'd have rather seen the testimony grouped in charts for a little more scientific method rather than all the "So and so said this" kind of information.
