About this listen

Bloomsbury presents The Power Within: Record-breaking, ultrarunning and fighting for change, written and read by Sophie Power

**This audiobook includes a bonus conversation between Sophie and sports journalist Lily Canter**

'Gripping, informative and inspiring... it's one of the most riveting running autobiographies I've ever read' – Lisa Jackson, author of Your Pace or Mine?

'Uplifting and inspiring' – Dame Sarah Storey

The exhilarating story of ultrarunner and campaigner Sophie Power’s achievements and the transformative power of endurance

In 2018 a photograph of Sophie Power breastfeeding her three-month-old son during the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc went viral around the world. This powerful image not only changed Sophie’s life but sparked global conversations about motherhood, endurance and the barriers women face in sport.

The Power Within delves into the key life lessons Sophie has learned through running: lessons on resilience, self-belief and female empowerment. Her journey is extraordinary: from coming second to last in running a mile at school to now competing for Great Britain, breaking Guinness World records in ultrarunning and taking on some of the toughest races on the planet– all while raising her children.

Sophie shares how she built resilience through life’s toughest moments, learned to prioritise herself beyond motherhood and discovered how to push her mental and physical boundaries beyond what she ever thought possible.

Through deeply personal reflections and practical insights, Sophie reminds us all to find our own power – in sport, in life and within ourselves.©2026 Sophie Power (P)2026 Bloomsbury Publishing Plc

Great insight into what makes Sophie such a great athlete and the struggles both she and other female athletes have to overcome to participate in long-distance races. She talks in detail about fitting training in around family life, how supportive her husband and family have been of her endeavours and how ‘that’ picture helped to create such awareness of how women want to and are able to return to high-level sport whilst they juggle the physical and mental demands of having a baby and young family. Really enjoyable listen- highly recommended.

An inspiring story and an enjoyable listen!
