Summary
What if your plus one could be the one?
Cara has officially run out of men. Her most recent dates have gone from bad to worse, and when her dating app informs her there is no one left in her area to choose from, she is at a dead end.
But with a summer of events ahead of her, she needs to find a solution, fast; someone to keep her company at the never-ending weddings, family gatherings and gender-reveal parties that she can’t face going to alone. So when she meets handsome, confident, Millsy on a night out, she may be in luck. They could not be more different in personality, but he, too, has a summer of events ahead and is desperate to get his family off his back about finding a ‘nice girl’. What if they made a pact to help each other out and be a plus one for the summer? Just as friends of course?
A brand-new romantic comedy from best seller Portia MacIntosh, perfect for fans of Zara Stoneley, Sophie Ranald and Mhairi McFarlane.

Predictable story but laugh out loud funny
It was predictable but had some really laugh out loud funny moments and i don't usually review books but this one got me. I'm about to start the authors next book. Really light read to cheer me up while I'm cleaning and driving! 😁

Didn’t finish it
Nope. Nope. Nope
I’m the first to admit I love a nonsense fluffy romcom but this was just beyond me. Maybe I’m getting old but any book that constantly uses ‘on brand’ or ‘woke’ isn’t for me. Turned off before I heard the dreaded ‘levelling up’ 😱😱

Boring
Well written, light-hearted romantic fiction that I struggled to finish. I appear to be in the minority judging by the other reviews on here but the story and characters were simply too flat and, quite frankly, boring. Go read One Day in December (Josie Silver) or The One Plus One (Jo Jo Moyes) if you want a three dimensional experience and characters that leap off the page.

Puffs air from cheeks
How many times can one phrase be used?! Started noticing it after 2-3 and counted several more after that.

Most annoying protagonist
I couldn't get past a few chapters as the protagonist was SO unlikable and annoying. Constantly banging on about how great she looks, but in a self-depreciating, 'I'm good looking, but I don't know it' way! How many times do you have to hint that the character has a large chest? Is it really that important?
The narration is underwhelming at best and the characters are annoying, so very annoying! Why call a character as annoying a name as Millsy if you're going to say it SO many times?! Avoid if you're not a TOWIE or Love Island fan, that's my advice!! This book has riled me up, not chilled me out!

Light and fluffy
Not really my thing prefer crime thrillers but ok. Good narrator and it made a change from murder and mayhem

Formulaic and clichéd but an easy listen
okay for a freebie, good narrator.
Clichéd events and conversations bumped the story along to it's obvious ending.

Loved this ❤
The first book by Portia MacIntosh that I've listened to, and I loved it! Listened to the whole book in one day.
Fabulous characters, funny and heartwarming.
I will definitely buy more of hers to listen to.
