A perfect daughter. A perfect monster.

When Anna and David adopt twelve-year-old Mia, it feels like their family is finally complete. She's polite, intelligent, and eager to please—everything they'd hoped for. But when Mia's behavior toward Anna turns cold and unsettling while remaining perfect for David, cracks begin to show.

Small accidents around the house, strange conversations, and moments that don't add up leave Anna questioning her own sanity. As the tension builds, she realizes that bringing Mia into their home wasn't just a mistake—it might destroy their family forever.

There appears to be a new style (?) of introducing possession of the narrative at the beginning of a chapter by naming the person who is telling the ensuing chapter. Any book that has this leaves me wondering: does the writer assume readers won’t be able to identify who is speaking? Does the writer think their reader is incapable?
Overall., it’s good storyline but with annoying shortfalls . Maybe this was done to increase suspense, I personally found it irritating. Not presenting evidence or involving the police sooner. I could take it or leave it but it doesn’t prompt me to read any more of this author’s books.

Incredible?

Great premise. The characters lack depth. The interactions between them are unrealistic. waste of a credit.

Obvious

I wouldn’t other the story dragged on and on and on and nothing really stood out and the ending was disappointing

Quite boring really

Enjoyed this, the story was something different, it had good narration and plenty of twists and turns.

Great free listen

Overall a decent story. Anna as a character is extremely weak. Anyone in their right mind would stamp the behaviour down more or less immediately. Quite a frustrating listen but for a Freeby it's ok

Very annoying at times
