About this listen

A completely gripping psychological thriller packed with suspense

Perfect boyfriend. Perfect liar. Perfect killer?

Her

I am on my way home, thinking only of the quiet, happy evening to come, when I see something completely impossible, and my heart stops dead. I would recognise those gorgeous pale blue eyes anywhere. It’s him. The high-school boyfriend I adored… Until the day he vanished without a trace.

I run towards him, my pulse racing. He turns, politely, a puzzled look on that familiar face. ‘I’m sorry,’ he says. ‘Do I know you?’

I need answers. I’m certain he’s lying. I just have to prove it.

Him

Of course you recognised me. Always so keen, always trying to do right by everyone.

It’s typical of my bad luck that we happened to run into each other.

I left this place for a reason–one you never knew. And now I’m back, I have plans.

And I’m afraid, my dear, that you’re getting in my way…

A completely gripping story of betrayal, lies and secrets that will have you open-mouthed at the twists. Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, Ruth Ware and Gillian Flynn.

Apart from the narrators terrible Scottish accent also overusing Scottish words unnecessarily, almost ruined the story as it was so irritating,, the story otherwise was good lots of twists and turns

The very annoying Narrator putting on a terrible Scottish accent

I’ve previously really enjoyed books by the author, but not this one. The story felt very stretched out and the main character irritating. There were a couple of plot points (and one in particular) that were completely unbelievable. I saw it through to the end and there was an interesting twist but not worth the lengthy journey. The performance was very good.

Long Winded and Far Fetched

I like this author and this one was one of her best. Would recommend. Good narration.

Great story. I finished in a couple of days.

I stuck with it hoping it would get better but it didn't. it was too contrived and unbelievable. There is no way an 8 month pregnant woman would do the things Kirsty did. Most people would have alerted the police if they thought someone was in danger, especially if it was someone in their 80s. Kirsty was annoying and irritating and I couldn't buy into the story/ ploy at all.

Contrived, unbelievable, and irritating!
