Summary

The Puppet

Borrow the bike. Win the race. Collect the cash. It should've been an easy job. Ran out of town with a broken leg and a lawsuit, my mother's latest flame swoops in like a knight in gilded armor. Blackwood Keep is a place I don't belong, and I'm not the only one who knows. To the boy across the hall, my savior's only son, I'm a stray looking for a bone.

He's lord of the manor.
King of the academy.
And number one on my shit list.

The Peer

I have no intentions of becoming a happy family with the social climber and her wild daughter. A bottle of Jameson and a cracked skull gets my problem shipped to reform school, but I didn't bank on her returning.

Four's out to get even, and she almost had the perfect plan: Expose the privileged kid moonlighting as a gangbanger. She's smart, but she'll have to be smarter. Sending her away won't be good enough this time. I'm going to have to tame the little troublemaker. To the girl across the hall, the one without a name, I'm nothing without my silver spoon.

She's lady of the trailer park.
Queen of the swamps.
And my new favorite pastime.

The Peer and the Puppet is an interconnected stand-alone. The plot introduced will continue in the following novels.

I’ve read this book over and over again over the last year... but first time listening to it.... oh my days ... I’m definitely going to be listening to the rest of bebe’s books... Listening made things sound new 🤷‍♀️ I imagined the places and characters in a different way than I did whilst reading...it helped me imagine scenes in my head better. This will definitely be listened to again I love four and ever ♥️ Going to buy more , you’ve got me hooked on audio 5 stars ⭐️ lady

All the feels! 5 astounding stars ⭐️

My first book from B.B Reid- and OMG I’m so completely captivated and blown away at the same time! Joe and Savannah make the perfect duo for Ever and Four. This story pulled at my heart strings in every way, with equally strong lead characters and secondary characters. Highly recommend this book and this audiobook to anyone curious or contemplating this story.

Female pushover just too much

I tried but I could not make it further than 3 1/2 hours. She is such a poorly written character. Supposedly strong yet she can’t ignore how dreamy the a-hole male is. Savannah’s Boston accent is too painful to listen too.

Hate the story but great narration

Hated the story Good writing Great narration To me the narrators made it possible to finish this story. I’ve enjoyed other books by Reid but this story was not for me because I personally don’t enjoy cheating of any kind. And I especially hate a woman okay with being a mans dirty little secret side piece and too weak to put her foot down. Grammatically the writing was good, but the words often felt empty. Maybe my resentment about the cheating kept me from emotionally opening up to the characters. I’m not completely sure, but I’d like to think I can be above that when rating an authors hard work. I could not connect with the female character. I felt she was written to be a strong young woman but then would do and behave corny, childish and weakened by sex. I think the author made a mistake having her take the male lead back so easily time and time again. To me that’s a contradiction to a strong person’s character. If you don’t have issue with cheating in your stories and like a controlling male then you’ll enjoy this one. Otherwise I’d suggest you save your money and time and choose a different story.

Entertaining listening

I had already read the print version of The Peer and the Puppet but I had to give the audiobook a listen. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The narrator's did a great job. My only issue was when Savannah would speak as Four. In the beginning she started off doing a Southern accent like Four, but then it stopped. I was thrown off by that. I really did love her voice though. I really loved Joe's voice when he would read with Jamie's accent. Overall I was extremely entertained.

So good!!!

This is a fantastic audiobook! I had previously read The Peer and the Puppet but when B.B. announced it would become an audiobook I knew I had to listen to it. And it did not disappoint!! Joe Arden and Savannah Peachwood did a masterful job bringing these characters to life. This is the story of Four and Ever (swoon ❤️❤️❤️), a girl from the wrong side of the tracks thrust into a world she was in no way prepared for. The push and pull, the secrets and the lies, and the secondary characters (waves to Jamie) all enhance this world B.B. Reid has created and the audio has just enhanced the experience.

Eye rolling.....

Eye rolling..... I’m a little confused on what people considered is a bad ass H because Four was nothing but a doormat always pining after Ever! When will authors get a clue that most women will not let another man treat them like Ever did Four or act this pathetic!! My God!! Do women really act this stupid around hot guys and just spread there legs?? why oh why can’t I find a BOOK where the H actually is a bad ass!! Maybe just maybe one day I’ll find a book where the H actually means it when she tells the hero to go f*** himself instead of her saying it but then opening her legs within a second! This book was so ridiculous that I can’t even count how many times I rolled my eyes at how pathetic Four was!! I’m surprised I even finish the book.. For the love of God, Woman grow a back bone! If anyone said the things to me that Ever said to Four, there would be no chance in hell I wouldn't say shit back to make them feel the same way!! And why do authors always make the hero seem to have this sexual power over women? Last time I checked, I thought women could make a men beg more.... Ever being consider a Alpha was a joke. I love Alpha men but Ever was more like a straight up asshole, but I guess if your as pathetic and weak as Four was and there isn’t any consequences on what you say and do then I guess I would continue being an asshole to that person too! Oh and let’s not forget to mention how Ever had no problem giving up on getting his mother back for Four, but wouldn’t give up Barbie because of a stupid unrealistic promise he gave Barbie when they were younger and how Four was OK with this... Could the story get any more ridiculous! So basically Barbie is more important than his mother.. and if Barbie didn’t tell Four about the promise than What?? I read Fear Me series by this Author, and the heroine in those books was just as weak and pathetic. That being said, I can tell you this, I’m done reading anymore of this Authors books. I just can’t stand weak Heroines! Not sure how this book got the rating it did!! More eye rolling.. The Audiobook Narrating were just ok. I’ve listen to Joe Arden and Savannah Peachwood in other books and have enjoyed listening to them, but for some reason I just didn’t get the same effect I got when they narrated this book. Maybe because the book was poorly written and it showed in the narrating.

Ever and Four

I really liked this book. Its almost like Fear Me, but with a different feel between Ever and Four. I never wanted their story to end neither of them are pushovers, but as much as Ever tried to be cruel and keep Four at a distance, it never lasted for long. He has more secrets that we can imagine and its all to keep those he cares about safe. While Ever starts out being this hard person, we slowly be the real boy break through the mask. Four is also really great. The relationships she forms with Tyra and Jamie were a lot of fun. I hate the relationship she has with her mom and its a shame that a man who isn't her father and boy who was supposed to be her enemy are the ones who care about her the most. The narration was really good. Loved them both in this audiobook. I was so into this book.

Solid start Four and Ever

This is my first book by BB Reid and it enjoyed it. Their names was one of my favorite things about this story. Both the creativity of the names and the accompanying meaning of the names was a touching addition to these characters journey. I loved that two of them found a kindred souls with each other. As with most young love stories, their journey was bumpy and a wild ride. Every time it seemed like they finally found their way, a wrench would be thrown their way. Then they wouldn’t communicate with words but instead used their bodies to convey their feelings. I think both Four and Ever were strong characters and I’m interested to see in the next book how their resolve the dilemma they are currently tackling.

Savannah was horrible

This is the first book I’ve listened to written by B.B. Reid and for the most part I enjoyed the book. Four’s stubbornness drove me crazy at times, but I get that the author wanted her to come across as a strong, independent woman. It’s not my favorite hate/love story as some of the sub plots didn’t make sense to me. There was too much going on that it really got confusing at times. I did like Ever’s friends (also the names were too weird) Vaughn and Jaime. Joe Arden did an excellent job, but unfortunately he narrates only a small part of the book. I usually like Savannah Peachwood, but in this book she drove me crazy. Four is supposed to have a southern accent, but hers would come and go. Her Boston accent was horrible too. I almost couldn’t finish it and only did so because of Joe’s performance.

Awesome read

I enjoyed this audiobook so much that it think I’m going to buy it even though it’s part of audible escape. This story is one of my new favorites. Both of the narrators did a phenomenal job.

More

I loved this listen, but I think that there should be another ending. I know there is a 2.5, but there needs to be something more.
