Summary

The gripping new Ben Hope thriller from the number one best-selling author.

When ex-SAS major Ben Hope is urgently recalled to the UK from his base in France to assist with a family crisis, little does he know that he’s about to be drawn into one of the most dangerous missions of his career: his son Jude has been accused of a brutal murder, and all the evidence points to his guilt.

To prove Jude’s innocence Ben embarks on a wild chase, facing up against mysterious killers and piecing together a fragile web of clues. What connects an all-female criminal gang from the early 1900s called the Forty Elephants, a century-old vendetta and a shadowy government conspiracy that claimed millions of innocent lives?

Along the way Ben teams up with his former acquaintance, rugged Detective Tom McAllister. They’re heading for a showdown in the wilds of Cornwall, and the villains have no intention of letting Ben come out of it alive....

Ben Hope is back!

This is not at the level of Star of Africa, but I love the Ben Hope saga books.

Any fab story

Love the way this author brings familiar characters back into the story. In this one it’s Jude his son & a Irish policeman. Well written and good storyline

The narration was annoyingly jarring in this one..

I love Scott Mariani books, and have listened to all previous Ben Hope books and as usual this one doesn’t disappoint; it’s a familiar formula, it’s easy listening that you don’t have to think about too much. Usually, I really enjoy Colin Maces narration, but throughout this book it was somewhat stilted, the pauses were in the wrong places, I’m not sure if it was the editing or just his reading but it was exceedingly annoying.. especially when it was straight off the back of a flawless reading by Jonathan Keeble in my previous listen.
It won’t stop me downloading more in the series, and I’ll eagerly await the next, but it was just jarring and I felt like saying so.

Another great book from Scott Mariani

Another excellent addition from the Ben Hope series. If you've never read any start at the beginning with the Alchemist'secret

Another Excellent Adventure for Ben Hope

Another excellent book!
I am happy to say that Scott Mariani is still a master weaver of intrigue and adventure involving our hero Ben Hope.
Very good story indeed and as usual I sympathised with Ben’s actions and thoughts whilst also occasionally shouting “..just smack him Ben!”
It was good to be re-acquainted with Tom McAllister & Radar his dog; which of course is excellent as Scott’s new series with McAllister is due soon.
As always I am now impatient for Ben Hope’s next adventure.
Well narrated by the talented Colin Mace.
(I did notice a few odd edits which made a few bits sound ‘hesitated’ - but the story was too full on to stop & note) Enjoy.

Not his best I’m afraid

Whilst being up to date with current affairs - the end smacks of conspiracy theories...and it spoiled it for me .

Colin mace does a fantastic job of narration as usual but in my opinion this was not one of the better Ben hope adventures.

good but not his best

I love Scott's books but have to say this was not his best it felt like he was cashing in on the current situation. it feels like the series is getting stale and he is struggling to continue developing the main characters

Another great Ben Hope instalment..

Another highly recommended instalment in the Ben Hope series. Relatively mild as far as the usual Ben Hope violence is concerned, but the plot here is very on point with today's society. Highly recommended. Well narrated by Colin Mace.
