I listened to The Necromancer’s Light with too high hopes, and was mildly disappointed. This one I went in a little guarded and concerned for another let down, and thank goodness for that, because it was grand. This story was much better, I felt more involved and concerned with the outcome. The narration was great, as always. There is one star off for the usual reliance on romancey tropes that annoy the ever loving life out of me, but I do accept and loved the fact Katie actually addressed it with Ronan and told him he was an idiot for making unilateral decisions and not talking things through with him. I’m also so happy with the Gods element of the world being expanded, and look forward to the next book.

Much better than the first instalment.
