About this listen

They used to meet for a smoke behind the MI5 building. They were disbanded after the death of the youngest member of their team at the hands of a Russian gangster. Now, suddenly, the Graveyard Team is being called back together. Word is that the gangster is staying at a villa in Spain - the Costa del Sol being a multi-billion dollar hub in the worldwide drug trade....

Strange book this because it could have been a great listen but falls short. Some of the plot devices just stretch credulity too far. In some types of book the author asks you to suspend disbelief and that is fine but not in a thriller - you have to be able to believe it could happen. There are times in this tale when I found myself thoroughly frustrated by the clichéd dialogue too. Overall it is okay but no better than that.

An okay listen

I'm a fan of Gerald Seymour, but I think it might be better to read this book rather than listen to it. The plot of MI5 agents seeking revenge for the death of a former colleague takes place in the Costa del Sol. So many characters are introduced, without much background on each, that it was rather confusing to keep track of them all. However, it's a good story, with a rather dark depiction of in the post crash Costa and some very scary Russian mobsters- sort of "costa noir". The action drags a bit at times and some of the characters are poorly drawn with rather naff dialogue. Nevertheless, it kept me interested and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what how it ends.

A good listen, if a bit confusing at times

Typical Seymour, bringing a plot with a myriad of characters to a final conclusion …sometimes with a quirky twist.
Listen and absorb. Not to be listened to as a background distraction, but give it the same attention as you would if reading or too much detail will be missed.

A quirky twist.

What disappointed you about The Outsiders?

A long winded ridiculous story line that did not impress me at all. It went on and on about a young couple taking a holiday in Spain with them suddenly thinking they could become MI6 assassins. Ridiculous. Wasted my money buying this book.

Boring and Dull
