Story
Not everyone who's missing is lost. When two teenage girls go missing along the Irish border, Paula Maguire has to return to the hometown she left years before. Swirling with rumour and secrets, the town is gripped by fear of a serial killer. But the truth could be even darker. Not everyone who's lost wants to be found. Surrounded by people and places she tried to forget, Paula digs into the cases as the truth twists further away. What's the link with two other disappearances from 1985? And why does everything lead back to the town's dark past - including the reasons her own mother went missing years before?

A year later, the Lovegoods throw a housewarming party, showing off the results of their renovation. Ava doesn’t want to go. She can’t bear to look down that end of the road, to see the place where Abi vanished, and she doesn’t want to spend time with people who don’t share her grief.

Terrible narration!
I wanted something easy to listen to as I've just had a baby and knew I'd be dipping in and out of it. The story was ok, although I guessed the 'twist' quite early on. The narration, however, was unbearable. For this reason, I'd probably recommend you're better off reading this book rather than listening to it!

Fairly Decent
The story keeps you on your toes but not enough that the twists shock you. At least for me I was able to see roughly where this book was going; not from the beginning which is why it keeps you guessing a touch. The characters were interesting but not as complex as they possibly needed to be. I feel there should be more to the story (some things left unexplained) but overall I did enjoy it.

You need to stretch belief
This book started off ok and with a good premise. However, it became slightly unbelievable in the middle and became progressively worse. Plus the Narrator had an annoying habit of emphasising the end of sentences. ok but a bit too far fetched and a more in depth ending would have been good.

Confusing Narration, Drawn Out Story
NO SPOILERS! This book is very hard to understand who is speaking. Characters shift in the middle of chapters without an introduction and its very annoying. The story is so so but its more of a mystery drama.

The Other Wife is not what you think
Claire McGowan has written a primer on how to “gaslight” someone. Susie’s husband nIck distrust his wife after finding her caught in an affair. Having “forgiven“ her he unbeknownst to her monitors her every move. Moving her out of London into a remote area, Susie, now pregnant, is left alone during the day with no one around until a woman moves into one of the other cottages next-door. Nora is the new neighbor. She is also the widow of Susie‘s lover. Thinking the child she carries is her husbands, NORA begins a campaign to ingratiate herself with Susie. Finding that NIck has been controlling Susie’s every move via electronic monitor, Nora, while not telling Susie, she encourages her to leave Nick, NORA, thinking she would have a comfortable life with pensions, savings, and inheritance money, is rudely awakened by the lawyer who tells her there are no funds whatsoever. Her husband has been siphoning off funds for years and there’s nothing left. Things escalate and there are many twists and turns. It makes you wonder how well you know those people in whom you have placed trust and love. This was a good read and the audio version was brilliantly performed.
