Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The gripping new thriller from the best-selling author of Now You See Her.

Laila and her husband, James, arrive for a week's holiday in the Maldives, much in need of a fresh start. While James spends his time exploring the island, Laila relaxes by the pool and finds herself inexplicably drawn to the seemingly perfect family who arrived on the same flight as them.

Emilia is on holiday with her husband and 12-year-old twin boys. She has no idea who Laila is, or that she has been watching her family so intently since they arrived. Emilia is enjoying her holiday far too much to worry about anyone else.

But five days later Emilia's world is blown apart by a horrifying accident.

Laila thinks she has information on what happened. She is convinced she has seen something that Emilia needs to know. But the more Laila learns about Emilia's family for real, the more she is beginning to realise that not everything she has seen is how it appears.

What if she has got it all wrong?

A story stretched too thin

Although in some parts this story did briefly grip me, ultimately it was too long, became boring, and had a disappointing ending.

Enjoyable listen- very white Lotus

I really liked the twisted and intertwined stories for each character. Felt like I had read the book before or seen the film at the start as characters very like season 1 white lotus.
Nice read

not very gripping and narrating over the top

not many twists and turns and a bit dragged out at times, although not a terrible story. I hoped for more suspense. Narrators tones of voice a bit over the top at times, in my opinion

Saved to read on holiday

I found this audiobook hard work because I didn’t like a single character - making connection or investment more difficult than usual. I was not familiar with Heidi Perks and selected this as a holiday listen having been to numerous Greek islands and liked the premise. Unfortunately, I felt it was too long and I couldn’t wait to finish listening - sorry.

Perfect summer listen

I really enjoyed this book and it would be a perfect summer holiday listen. A lot going on with sensitive subject matter. Characters are a bit annoying but it didn’t distract for me. Confusing description though, it’s set in the Greek islands and not the Maldives and the boys are 15 and 18 not 12 year old twins. I would recommend this book.

Disappointing

A very disappointing listen. The story is quite weak. The worst thing about this though is the narration. Extremely annoying, especially the person narrating Em. The male narrators were fine. Waste of a credit.

Not much of a thriller!!!

I don’t understand the hype or the reviews. Watery, loose storyline. Completely lacking in tension

Gripping!

I greatly enjoyed this audiobook - the story very well crafted, the plot keeping me guessing almost to the end, and the narrator excellent.

Inconsistent Narration

The narration of this book appeared exaggerated in parts. It made tlistening to the book quite difficult. The story was ok.
