About this listen
Everyone believes that Lenora Hope is a mass murderer.
When the Hope family was massacred decades ago, she was the only one left after that tragic night.
Mute, paralysed and confined to a wheelchair, Lenora has never been able to tell her side of the story.
Until her new live-in caregiver Kit brings her a typewriter.
And with one working finger Lenora begins to type:
I want to tell you everything.©2023 Riley Sager (P)2023 Hodder & Stoughton Limited
Great story and finished well

Having said that it was an interesting premise at least at first, and I liked that the main character Kit McDeere is quite an ambiguous character, and as her back story emerges those ambiguities and questions make her more interesting if not appealing.
In truth none of the characters are likeable in this, not I suppose that they have to be, but it does make it hard to care or get invested in them as the story unfolds.
I find it difficult to review this without giving anything away but the ending really lets this book down as it is just too unlikely.
The Narration on the audible book was really good and made it an enjoyable and easy listen but possibly also highlighted how often some things were gone over and over.
Overall 3 stars
Narration 4 stars
Story 2.5 stars.
The ending let's it down.

I was hooked!

The ending makes several situations in the book make no sense, and the big twist which I will not spoil in this review kind of ruined it for me.
Overall I enjoyed the book because the journey towards the end was really nice and exciting, but man the ending just took the air out of me and then the end I was just excited for the book to be over.
The characters are mostly well written and the book is well read, but there's a lingering frustration where the main character sometimes acts the opposite of what you would do in real life.
the biggest waist however is that it drops several threads which you would expect to be picked up later on, but by the time you would expect these threads to be iterated upon the book is already over. Slight spoiler but man the cop is such a wasted character and a failed attempt at a red herring.
I realize this review sounds overly negative so I want to iterate that the book is still worth listening to, but don't expect the quality of Agatha Christie.
The perfect roadtrip towards a brick wall
