Summary

Griffin is a firefighter, paramedic, and fire investigator with a dark secret — his father is the likely suspect in a spree of arsons in his beloved town of Singer Springs. Once an infamous arsonist in the One-Thirty syndicate, Griffin’s dad was in prison. But now he’s out, and the recent fires match his signature M.O. No one can know Griffin’s secret — not his firefighting family or his love interest, Luna, the daughter of a Massachusetts senator.

With the arson fires getting worse, Griffin must choose between the profession he loves and his devotion to his family. His fellow firefighter adoptive brother, Lodi, proves to be an obstacle, both romantically with Luna, and in his insistence that their dad is innocent. When the fires become personal, Griffin's judgment skews. He’ll have to let his moral compass be his guide — yet his morals keep sending him in all the wrong directions.

Enjoyable!

The One-Thirty, the second book in the Scorching Heat series, was an enjoyable listen. The storyline is romantic, sweet with just enough steam, but not graphic. A lot happens in the book, loads of drama; it kept me entertained. Luna and Griffin are likeable and charming characters, and their connection felt genuine. I thought Weston East did an excellent job with the narration; his reading was clear and well-paced. Overall, as mentioned, One-Thirty was enjoyable, one I'll recommend to those looking for sweeter and not explicit romance.

Ok

I enjoyed the story but I really didn’t enjoy the narrator. He only seemed to have one voice for all the characters including the women .

Interesting Story of Fire and Love!

This is my first book by Callie Bardot and I found that it had a lot of potential and interesting elements. The characters were complex and there was a lot going on with each character's back story as well as the events in this book. I did find the relationship between the two characters a little lacking. They had great chemistry but I would have preferred if their relationship had a little more opportunity to develop.

Aside from the romance between Griffin and Luna, the other main thread in this plot is the series of arsons that occur. It isn't difficult to figure out who was behind them reducing the effect of the suspense in the story.

That said, there were a lot of great ideas and themes included in this audiobook. While it wasn't my favourite book, I am interested in finding out more about the series. It has the potential to be very exciting!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Not for me

Similar family betrayal and sickly sweet romance to Book 1. It was very predictable and easy to work out who the villain of the story was. A struggle to get through because it just didn't have enough to interest me. The narrator did a good job.

I was given a copy of this book for free of my own choosing and have voluntarily left this review.
