A Good Author

The author is very good at presenting conflicting interpretations and information, discussing differing sources and their strengths and weaknesses as, on the whole, this period of history is overall not well recorded in primary records. Second, the author makes generous references to the Bayeux tapestry which I appreciated, having visited the tapestry.

I Liked This book

This book rather covers in details the society and events leading to 1066, and the events and culture after the fact. It is balanced, repudiating I guess previous works that condemned the Norman conquest as the destruction of some peaceful, perfect utopia of the Saxons.

The Norman Conquest

This is my evaluation of the Norman Conquest. While the author of this book may not agree with me he provides a complete story to enable any listener to make their own decisions. An excellent book.
