About this listen

The bone-chilling new novel from Jenny Blackhurst, the number one best-selling author of How I Lost You, Before I Let You In and The Foster Child. If you love dark, twisty thrillers, you'll love the Night She Died.

On her own wedding night, beautiful and complicated Evie White leaps off a cliff to her death. What drove her to commit this terrible act? It's left to her best friend and her husband to unravel the sinister mystery. Following a twisted trail of clues leading to Evie's darkest secrets, they begin to realize they never knew the real Evie at all.

I usually really enjoy the author's work, but I struggled to follow this one. This wasn't due to complexity of plot; it was, instead, due to seemingly bizarre time and location jumps.

Perhaps the performance was a little distracting in this instance, but I note others enjoyed it.

I couldn't make head nor tail of this one

The story alternates perspectives, each protagonist gets their own chapters or sections, allowing development of the story. Even though each character is on different paths, their arcs contribute equally to resolving the main plot.

The reader spends significant time inside each character’s head, learning their motivations, flaws, and growth.

Brilliantly read too which helps engage the reader.

Couldn't stop listening, been any years since I have read/listened to something so refreshingly different! loved it!

Intrigue and betrayal, with so many twists and deception. You wont put it down until you read the end.
