Summary

Fifteen years ago, in Mitch Albom's beloved novel The Five People You Meet in Heaven, the world fell in love with Eddie, a grizzled war veteran turned amusement park mechanic who died saving the life of a young girl named Annie. Eddie's journey to heaven taught him that every life matters. Now, in this magical sequel, Mitch Albom reveals Annie's story.

The accident that killed Eddie left an indelible mark on Annie. It took her left hand, which needed to be surgically reattached. Injured, scarred, and unable to remember why, Annie's life is forever changed by a guilt-ravaged mother who whisks her away from the world she knew. Bullied by her peers and haunted by something she cannot recall, Annie struggles to find acceptance as she grows. When, as a young woman, she reconnects with Paulo, her childhood love, she believes she has finally found happiness.

As the novel opens, Annie is marrying Paulo. But when her wedding night ends in an unimaginable accident, Annie finds herself on her own heavenly journey - and an inevitable reunion with Eddie, one of the five people who will show her how her life mattered in ways she could not have fathomed.

Poignant and beautiful, filled with unexpected twists, The Next Person You Meet in Heaven reminds us not only that every life does matter but that every ending is also a beginning - we only need to open our eyes to see it.

Just Perfect!

I loved this wonderful sequel! The story was as emotional, uplifting and thought provoking as the first book. Once again I shall spend hours wondering whom will be my five people!
I read the first in paperback but having heard Mitch read this I must go back & listen to that book, he had a very calming voice which leads to fabulous escapism from a hectic world. As with all of Mitch’s books I didn’t want it to end. Highly recommended!

Love this mam

Before I found Mitch Albom stories my partner found heaven and I too imagined it to be just the way Mitch writes it. That’s why I continue to be grateful for my life knowing that each day I close my eyes and say it’s a good day to be here and there!

Exquisite.

Sublime, beautiful. That most rare of things - a sequel that ranks alongside its predecessor. Sheer perfection.

A beautiful sequel

My only negative is that it isn't longer. This is a beautiful story following on from the five people you meet in heaven. It is certainly thought provoking. I also love that it is narrated by the author, so you know you are hearing the story exactly as intended.

what a shame

I have loved and read/listened to all of this authors books, but this one despite being a "follow up" to "Five People you meet in heaven" (which was superb), I found strong similarities to at least three of his other books therefore this storyline became quite boring and samey early on in the book.
I did not enjoy this at all. A real shame. ☹️

Not a religious book but a fantastically good one

Don’t be put off if you’re not a heaven type of person. This is a beautifully written book. I absolutely loved it and didn’t want it to end.

You don’t need to hv read the first book although it gives a bit of background.

Mitch Albim writes a credible and thought provoking look at a life through the decisions and actions that happen to us or by us. I don’t want to say more than that!!

I rarely write reviews but enjoyed this so much I felt it warranted it - suffice to say that if you buy this I can’t imagine you won’t love it !!!

Another fabulous classic by Mr Albom

I just love Mitch Albom's books and storytelling. My first experience of his work was 'The five people you meet in heaven' This sequel is just as moving and satisfying as a work of fiction. I would recommend it to anyone.

Delightfully read by the author this sequel is as charming as as the first. It leaves you wondering who you would meet on your journey and why?
