Hermas
The New Testament Apocrypha Collection brings together four important early Christian and apocryphal texts.
Book 1: The Didache, or The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles, gives practical instruction on Christian morals, baptism, fasting, prayer, the Eucharist, hospitality, and church order.
Book 2: The Shepherd of Hermas is an early Christian work of visions, commandments, and parables, centered on repentance, discipline, and the life of the Church.
Book 3: The Gospel of Barnabas presents an alternative religious narrative associated with the apostle Barnabas and has long attracted interest for its distinctive treatment of biblical figures and doctrine.
Book 4: The Gospel of Nicodemus, also known in part as the Acts of Pilate, expands upon the trial, crucifixion, resurrection, and descent of Christ into Hades.
These works are not part of the New Testament canon, but they played an important role in Christian history, devotion, legend, controversy, and the study of early religious literature.
