Summary

Your secrets. Her lies.

Cassie stares at the woman on her doorstep in disbelief. Just months after losing her only son, Josh, here stands a stranger claiming to be Josh’s girlfriend. But it’s not only the woman Cassie is shocked by, it’s the baby nestled in Kim’s arms. Cassie’s grandchild.

I know what you did.

As Cassie tries to do what’s best for baby Samuel, she starts to receive threatening messages from someone from her past - someone Cassie has been hiding from for a long time. Cassie is frightened that her biggest secret is about to be revealed and she will lose everything, including her precious grandson.

You took everything from me. Now you need to pay.

As the messages get more sinister, Cassie realizes the person behind them knows every detail about her life and she fears that she is being watched. Could Kim be the link between Cassie and the mysterious messenger? And is she in danger now that she has welcomed this woman and her baby into her home?

A truly gripping pause resister that will keep you listening well into the night, The New Girlfriend is for fans of The Girl on the Train, My Lovely Wife, and Gone Girl.

Well written

I thought it was well written, the dialogue was good and the story was good, but quite slow to start with. Things start to get interesting in the second half and it really gets going towards the end. Good narrator, she has a very nice voice and is very expressive and reads it very well but I wish she she wouldn't suck air through her teeth after every 2 sentences or so, its not nice to hear when you're using earphones. I would definitely read more books from the same author and will look for more.

A very slow start

I found the first 20 chapters really slow and boring, with everyone being sooo considerate of each others feelings ...and nothing happens. So I skipped ahead to chapter 30 and then the story becomes more interesting. But I definitely dont rate it 5star, just a good 3star.

excellent

Very interesting story and very good narrater, definatley worth a listen, knew from quite early on who the culprit was but this did not detract from the story.

Great story, brilliant narration

My sort of book, with a few surprises along the way. This is the first Sheryl Browne book I’ve read and I was very impressed. I’ve listened to Katie Villa narrating a few times and she is fanstastic.

Whoa!! What a ride that was!

Wow! This book had so many twists and turns I was dizzy by the end. The genre of this book didn’t say it was a mystery/thriller, but it was in my humble opinion. And a darned good one!
