Summary

What if Princess Diana hadn't died in the Paris car crash in 1997? What if there had been no crash? What if she'd converted to Islam and married Dodi Fayed?

In this alternate reality, Prince William succeeds to the throne and his mother, Princess Diana, rejoins the Royal Family as a Muslim Queen Mother. Meanwhile, her grandson James, the next in line to the throne, is under the spell of a Saudi Arabian Princess who want him to convert and become the first Muslim King of England.

Mind blown on this one!

This book is a HUGE What If? How would the world be different had Diana not died? Not only that, the other questions I could myself asking is, how would have her sons have ended up with her around? Would they have married the same people? Would they still be close?

This book took me down a road I was not prepared for, but even after remembering that this book is a WHAT IF story, it was interesting to see how things could have been.

It reads like something that could’ve really happened

So far I have loved every book I read by Roger Lay and the Muslim prince is no exception. The narration and the story were both excellent, although I thought the story could’ve been longer it had a satisfying ending in a such an original plot I loved it and can’t wait to read more by this author. This is an awesome awesome book!

Superb

Great story, if a little too short. I found eve setting to be plausible and entertaining.

Here’s hoping the story will continue.

A question many have asked.

I can see the appeal of The Muslim Prince though it is a far cry from what I would normally read. In speculating on what might have been, Roger Ley tells a story of how Diana's extension of the family might have impacted the Royal House of Windsor. A story of politics and plots, of love and of lies, The Muslim Prince is worth a listen, especially with Craig Bowles narrating.

What if?

A good what if book! Rather interesting insights into the Islamic culture. Quite glad the what if never came to pass, very well narrated, manages to switch from male to female voices successfully 👌.

Mind blowing!

This isn't my first encounter with the imagination of Roger Ley, and I assure you it won't be my last. I don't know where he gets his ideas from but I am so glad he writes them down. This story takes you on a journey you won't be expecting. I was listening with my politically correct head on, but my heart kept thinking, 'don't mess with the monarchy'. I was never sure who's side I was on, as I kept switching allegiance all over the place. Wonderfully narrated by the enormously talented Craig Bowles, this book will leave you with a lot to think about. I've listened to it twice now and I'll be revisiting it again. Clever, inspired and brilliantly executed - this is one not to be missed.

Excelente narrator.
It's very enlightening about the Islamic world.

A very interesting story!

This story has everything, drama, romance, politics, religion, however there is just enough of each of these aspects so you won't get bored by any of it.

The author has portrayed a fantastic twist and has told a brilliant story of what life would habe been like if princess Diana had not died!

The story made me smile, and cry!! I loved the interaction between Camilla and Diana...always wondered what Diana would have thought of Camellia being the queen.

So if you've ever wondered what it would have been like if Diana lived and married a Muslim Dodi and the future of the monarchy then this is the book for you!!

I just want to end with a few words for the narrator!! I Iisten to a lot of audio books. this guy was amazing. From articulating Arabic words/phrases, accents and different voices...he made the words come alive and I could imagine each scene playing out as a movie. fantastic!

Another great listen. So believable

I listened to this book after listening to the first one in the series (they don't follow but are interlinked), it added to the background of the story and I was so intrigued to get more information which enhanced my understanding of the first book.

I could potentially understand how this could have happened remembering the hysteria when Diana died.

My only criticism, and this is selfish, is I wanted more of the story - I didn't want it to stop.

Can't forget to mention that the narrator just added an extra layer to the story.
I am following both author and narrator now.
I was given a free copy by the author in exchange for an honest review which I have done.

What would happen if she didn’t die?

I love Rogers book (especially as my husband appears to be a time traveller in one of them) and was not disappointed with this one. In this story we look at what would happen if Princess Diana had not died and has married Dodi Fayed. Add into the mix her Grandson who although next in line to the thrown wants to convert to Islam. This story defiantly makes you think and although I would hope in reality as a country we would not be so narrow minded I do feel that a lot of the issues and concerns raised in this book would still be prevalent if this was to occur. I really enjoyed the story and it certainly makes you think.

Wow!

This really makes you think. There is much to ponder. intriguing fiction. but all possible to imagine. And how it would effect the Royals. Hmmm... Kudos to the Author for the thoughts this book arises. Narration was excellent too!

Very interesting “what if” story

This story continues from the authors previous novel “Chronoscape” which touched on the story in this book. It is a interesting “what if” story that really engages and makes you think. It is a plausible story that ends all to quick leaving me wishing foe a few more chapters. Definitely worth the listen - but read/listen to Chronoscape first to get the full experience.

An Amazing Take on a Twist in History

The Muslim Prince is an amazing read about a unique twist in history. What IF Princess Diana, the beloved princess, had not been in that car crash? What IF she and Dodi had survived and their love blossomed into something eternal?

Author Roger Ley had me hooked by page 2. All these “what if’s” answered and lived out through his perspective. So many aspects of mixed cultures and the outcome of their love changing the way countries think and act towards each other.

Narrator Charles Bowles has the perfect voice to act out the dialogue. His ability to change certain aspects of his accent kept me in Mr. Ley’s alternate adventure on every twist and turn. The Muslim Prince is a great audiobook and you’ll find yourself finding reasons to keep listening!

This audiobook was given to me in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Excellent Short Story Pin-off from Chronoscope!

This is a Very well done Spin-off from the original story Chronoscope. I felt it did a excellent job of presenting how things very well might have gone. Narrator does a Great job of bringing the characters to life and making the storyline more real.

Interesting premise

I liked the premise.
I found it a bit... over the top.
There was a lot of discussion of the Muslim faith and only a cursory treatment of the impact on government and society... it was all a bit trite in that regard it’s I just a bit too upbeat and pro-Islamic sounding... no conflict just a transition of Britain to the tenets of Islam in a relatively smooth manner.

Overall, it’s interesting but not the epic or deep take I was expecting. It’s very much the Disney version of the possibilities.

I received this book for free in exchange for a review.

interesting take on an alternative history

I enjoyed this listen. It does make you wonder how the world would be different today and in the future if Diana and Dodi hadn't died, had ended up getting married, and Diana had converted to Islam.
I wanted a little more character development but overall, a good, short listen.

I received a copy of this for free and this is my honest review.

Original premise, well-thought out follow through

I haven't had much experience with books that deal in alternate accounts of history, but after listening to this I'm definitely going to look for more of this genre! While the present-day world unpicks and dissects the latest scandal surrounding the British royal family, it felt so good to be able to immerse myself in the fictional though completely plausible sounding world of what if.

What if Diana hadn't died? What if she had gone on to marry Dodi, finding happiness in a second union, and with time putting into motion a course of events that would fundamentally alter the system that has held England in its place for so many centuries?

What if we lived in a world that was more like this one? More colourful and inclusive in parts, accepting as a reality and norm the technological advances that come with futuristic settings, while never failing to remind us that will always be those who will object and plot in darkness when confronted with any kind of change from the status quo. All of these things are explored with attention to detail where research is clearly evident, with subtle-ish tongue-in-cheek pokes at establishments like monarchical reign without thought of retiring that many question to this day.

In the end, you are left with a not-unrealistic sounding story that very well *might* have happened had Diana not died. Lastly, but by no means least, the narration was excellent. Craig's solid, clear, measured tones keep the listener engaged as the story swings from character to character and between various settings. All of these changes are conveyed well and with the apparent ease that belies the hard work that goes into such endeavours.

Altogether a very good book that I would heartily recommend to those who seek a little lightness, a little other-ness from the current day drama and strife of the royal family. This 5 star listen will not disappoint!
